Workshop Description:
-
We are living a world where many health conditions are due to poor lifestyle, this gives medical professionals an opportunity to work with their patients to motivate and encourage them to make better lifestyle choices. The only way to find out what will work for the patient is to find who the patient is as an individual. Who they are, their opinions and desires, what they have access to and how motivated they are. This can only be achieved through clever questioning, active listening and thoughtfully responding. It is the responsibility of the medical professional to provide information that is accurate, relevant and delivered in a way that is easily understandable. Therefore, the questions asked should be appropriate, easy to understand for the individual and relevant to the conversation. Effective questioning can help to build better relationships, reduce misunderstandings and save valuable time.
