Workshops for Trainers..

Careers Support Master-class

Health Education East of England are delighted to be able to offer a ‘Careers Support Master-class’ aimed at training programme directors, educational supervisors, college tutors, heads of school, directors of medical education and all other faculty members who are instrumental in guiding their trainees through their training programmes.

The careers support master-class is designed to assist clinical and educational faculty members, acting in a supervisory capacity, providing careers support and guidance to trainees where there are concerns about performance or career progression.

By building on existing mentoring skills and cultivating resilience techniques, the careers support master-class aims to assist tutors in making lasting, positive change in a supportive and non-judgemental environment so that trainees can be meaningfully supported before, during and after concerns have been formally raised.

The master-class will include taught materials and small group discussion of the current career issues faced by trainees. This event will ensure trainers have met Standard F (guiding personal and professional development) of the GMC Recognition and Approval for trainers, and have evidence of training in support skills for their appraisal.

Upcoming Workshops:

  • Thursday 30th November 2017 (FUL)
  • Friday 1st December 2017 (FULL)
  • Friday 26th January 2018 (limited places left)

Places on the workshop are booked on a first come, first served basis.

To book onto these workshops, or for more information including being added to the waiting list, please contact:

Resilience Faculty

Further to the feedback from the Autumn PSU development day, the PSU have been working alongside our designated resilience champions to develop a training package to offer to trainers and trainees. Once fully designed, the training package will be circulated between the champions. Therefore should you wish to hold a resilience workshop as part of any faculty development days, please be in contact in order for us to support this accordingly.

Professional Support Development Day

The Professional Support Unit development day took place on Wednesday 21st September 2016 at the Huntingdon Marriott, and despite the horrendous traffic on the A14, all delegates made it in good time!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for attending and making the day a success.

As promised, you can find downloadable copies of the presentation slides below and I trust that those of you who did not pick up a certificate on the day, have now received an emailed copy.

Dr Burns and I will endeavor to collate the feedback received next week, and share this with you all along with some brainstormed actions from this.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions for the PSU team or of course, for any of our excellent speakers.

We look forward to seeing you at future events.

Kind regards
