GP Trainee Courses

The GP School runs a number of regional teaching days to support trainees. These courses are run and funded centrally via the Regional Teaching Fund and will not incur an attendance cost. For all the other courses please refer to the information provided from the organizer.

RCA Preparation Courses and Intensive RCA Support Groups

Regional RCA preparation Courses

Overview:

These one day accredited RCA courses aim to help improve the clinical skills in the GP consultation for more effective, efficient and patient-centred care, providing up to date information on the new RCA exam format.
The days will include explanations of clinical skills with the use of role players and small facilitated group work to allow all attendees the opportunity to participate in mock consultations.
Each small group will be facilitated by an experienced RCA Examiners/Trainer who will give constructive individual feedback to participants.

Am I Eligible?

These days are suitable for East of England GP ST3 trainees how have not been already involved in a regional RCA or RCA-SOX day.

GP Update Courses

GP Update Course​s

Overview:

This GP Update course, run by Red Whale and fully funded by HEE, will keep you on top of all the changes to guidelines and the latest research can be a challenge. This jam-packed virtual course is full of brand-new updates to help change your practice straightaway! The Red Whale GP presenter will host the course live from TV Studio, sharing the most important new evidence, relating it to you, your patients and your practice.

You will also be presented with a certificate of completion awarding 6 CPD points for attending this course.

The course comes with a number of extra resources to give it incredible‘added value’.

You will also be presented with a certificate of completion awarding 6 CPD points for attending this course.

Mental Health Courses

Mental Health Course​

Overview:

This new and engaging virtual update course run by Red Whale and fully funded by HEE, will help you to give patients with mental health issues the best possible care in a short consultation can be tricky. This jam-packed one-day online course has been designed to give you a range of tools and skills you can use in a 10-minute consultation window and teaches you how to adopt a structured approach to these consultations.

You will also be presented with a certificate of completion awarding 6 CPD points for attending this course.

Cancer Update course

Cancer Update Course​

Overview:

This course, run by Red Whale and fully funded by HEE, covers the whole cancer journey from prevention to palliative care to help you get to grips with all the nuances of this rapidly expanding area of primary care practice.

AKT Preparation Course

Overview:

The GP School has agreed to fund AKT Full Day Online Courses run online by Emedica.

Am I Eligible?

This is course is open to all East of England GP Trainees.

Cost:

These courses are fully funded by HEE EoE.

SOX Programmes

AKT SOX Programme

In June 2021 HEE East of England launched the AKT SOX programme. This innovative programme was developed collaboratively by HEE East and NW. The programme has been designed to support those trainees who have been unsuccessful in an AKT sitting.

During the Covid 19 pandemic the AKT SOX programme will be delivered remotely.

The programme is supportive and works with both the trainer and the trainee to maximise AKT exam success.

RCA SOX Programme

In September 2019 HEE East of England launched the CSA SOX programme. This innovative programme was developed by two CSA Examiners within HEE North West. The programme was designed to support those on extension pass their CSA exam. The programme has had huge success. The NW results were published in February 2019.

It is offered to all trainees across the East of England with an RCA exam failure. The programme is supportive and works with both the trainer and the trainee to maximise exam success.

Cardiology rhythm disorders Sessions

  • ECG interpretation
    Tuesday 1st February 2022, 13:00

    Dr Claire Martin will run the first of two sessions on Cardiology rhythm disorders.
    This session will cover how to analyse the ECG using a stepwise approach and will use case examples of common arrhythmias to illustrate this.
