Inter Deanery Transfers (IDTs)
If you are planning on applying for an IDT to leave the region please ensure your TPD is aware of your intentions at the earliest opportunity
The national Inter Deanery Transfer (IDT) process has been established to support trainees who have had an unforeseen and significant change in their personal circumstances since the commencement of their current training programme which requires a move to a different region. The process is managed by the national IDT team (HEE, South London) on behalf of the Conference of Postgraduate Medical Deans (COPMeD), Health Education England (HEE) and all UK regions.
In order to provide a consistent, transparent and robust process for all trainees, the national IDT team will make all decisions on eligibility and allocations in accordance with the published guidelines and criteria. You can read these guidelines and criteria as well as find out much more about the process by visiting the national IDT webpages, which have been migrated to a new home on HEE’s specialty training website here: specialtytraining.hee.nhs.uk/inter-deanery-transfers/.
The next application window will open in February 2017.
As part of the application process all trainees will be required to submit a ‘Deanery Document'. This form will be available on the national IDT website here 4 weeks prior to the IDT window opening. This should be completed and sent to your current region’s administrative team for approval.
You can download the most recent national IDT newsletter detailing some important updates at the bottom of this page.
For any questions relating to eligibility or the IDT application process please email the national IDT helpdesk: IDTinfo@southlondon.hee.nhs.uk
To submit your Deanery Document or for queries relating to your Deanery Document please email the east of England local team: email@example.com
If you are planning to leave the region and eligible for an IDT (please see the national website for full eligibility information http://specialtytraining.hee.nhs.uk/inter-deanery-transfers/ ) you are required to scan and email a completed Deanery Document to firstname.lastname@example.org for approval. This approved document will form part of your IDT application.
The Deanery Document will be available for you to download from the national website approximately 4 weeks prior to the IDT window opening.
Please ensure your Training Programme Director is aware of your intention to apply for an IDT.
