Recruitment

Why choose paediatric training in the East of England?

We welcome applicants at all stages of training via the national recruitment round, whether as a new trainee at ST1, an experienced trainee entering at ST4 level, or senior trainees moving for GRID sub specialty training.

Bespoke Rotations

For trainees joining at ST1 level, we offer choice for your initial level 1 training, with the Deanery split into 3 geographical areas. Rotations are based around the region's level 3 neonatal units at Luton, Norwich and Cambridge. You will spend 1 year in one of these centres (spending time in both paediatrics and neonatal medicine), and subsequent years in a district general hospitals. As your training progresses past the Level 1 years , our TPDs offer bespoke rotations based on your training needs and geographical preferences. As well as a variety of GRID posts, we offer many SPIN rotations for trainees seeking sub-specialty training alongside a career as a General Paediatrician.

All of our placements have something to offer, whether that be access to tertiary clinics for sub-specialty experience, or the chance to hone your skills as part of a DGH team.

Protected Teaching Time

We offer protected teaching for all trainees, whether that be at the ST1-3 study days, or the ST4+ study days. These programmes are planned by trainees, so you get regular teaching on what your peers feel is important for you. The diverse nature of our region also means that there are a host of other training opportunities available without having to travel too far.

The Application Process
