Training resources

There are several useful training resources available.

e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) provides an e-learning programme for equality and diversity and helps learners apply that knowledge in the healthcare environment.

The Flying Start NHS Equality and Diversity learning unit is designed to encourage newly qualified practitioners to become more knowledgeable and confident about incorporating the principles of equality and diversity into practice within their healthcare setting, and complement local induction and training activities.

The Equality Delivery System (EDS) is an inclusive equality tool available to help local NHS organisations, in collaboration with local partners and populations, review and improve their performance for people with characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010.

The GMC’s learning disabilities website has an interactive learning section examining the issues involved in treating patients with a learning disability.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) produces a range of official statistics to allow for a great understanding of UK society, such as:  age, disability, marriage, civil partnership, pregnancy, maternity, race, religion or belief, gender reassignment and sexual orientation.   

The UCL Institute of Health Equity  seeks to increase health equity through action on the social determinants of health, specifically by influencing global, national and local policies; by advising on and learning from practice; by building the evidence base, and; by developing capacity.

Better Health provides health practitioners with information and guidance on race equality in health. They have briefings and a number of resources relating to health and race equality.
