MSK Minor Injuries Course
Learning Outcomes:
MSK Day 1 - Minor Injuries Management:
Suturing basics, haemorrhage control, inc. demo of trauma tourniquet application, nails in ED, minor burns management, de-roofing blisters, burns assessment practical & dressings, glue, steri-strips application & staples, dressings & bandaging (turban, finger etc.), soft tissue FB management in ED and lateral canthotomy in ED.
MSK Day 2 - Minor Injuries Management:
Demo of Plastering techniques & removal followed by assessment (upper limb inc. demo of scaphoid cast & ulnar gutter slab. Demo of plastering techniques (lower limb). Upper limb practical: Broad arm sling, high arm sling, Collar and cuff, Poly-sling. Hand practical: Neighbour strapping, mallet splint, finger dressing. Lower limb practical: Walking boot, aircast, crutches. Application of pelvic binder and Kendrick splint. Hand examination & practical tips. Reduction of Colles fracture (practical demo)
Our MSK Minor Injuries are often held in Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
Currently our MSK Days are aimed for ACCS EM Year 2 & ST3/DRE-EM Trainees only.
