ST3/DRE-EM Regional Training Days 2019-2020

Please find below the ST3/DRE-EM Regional Training Programme 2019/2020. Please ensure you liaise with your individual departments to arrange study leave on these days.

Paediatric Emergency Medicine Course - 12th & 13th September 2019 or 1st & 2nd October 2019

This course is mandatory for all ST3 and DRE-EM trainees undertaking their year in Emergency Medicine. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SPLIT SITE course; the course will be held on Thursday 12th & Friday 13th September 2019 at Peterborough City Hospital and on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd October 2019 at Basildon Hospital Please attend the date and venue which is most convenient to you.

Host 1: Peterborough City Hospital - Thursday 12th & Friday 13th September 2019

Host 2: Basildon Hospital - Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd October 2019

ST3/DRE-EM Training Day - Friday 11th October 2019

Host: Addenbrooke's Hospital 

Topic: Trauma 1

Curriculum Topics: Head, Chest, Abdominal, Maxillo-facial trauma, burns, etc

ST3/DRE-EM Training Day - Friday 8th November 2019

Host: Southend Hospital 

Topic: Neurology 

Curriculum Topics: Headaches, First fit, Pts with recurrent fits, Acute confusion, Stroke, Assessment of limb weakness, Assessment of acute dizziness, encephalitis, Multiple Sclerosis, Unusual strokes (brain stem/ cerebeller) etc

Topic: Respiratory

Topic: Infectious Disease

Curriculum Topics: PUO, Shingles, IV drug abusers, Needle stick injures, human/ animal bites, HIVs/ HepBs (emergencies in HIV) etc. sexually transmitted diseases
