Thanks to an innovation award, funding was awarded to the East of England Perinatal Network to set up ‘point-of-care’ simulation within every SCBU in the region. Each SCBU has been supplied with a high fidelity manikin, and members of the medical, and nursing staff of each SCBU has been trained to run simulation scenarios covering common neonatal emergencies in the actual environment that the teams work in. It is expected that these simulations will run on a regular basis within each hospital, and trainees should therefore all get the opportunity to be involved in several scenarios during their placements in individual hospitals. It would be helpful for trainees to keep a personal log of the simulation sessions they attend in their e-Portfolio, as they would with any other training opportunity.

There is a contact in each Trust who can provide further information and dates when Sim+ training will be available. Their details are available here.
