Mandana Atashkadeh Tandläkare DDS Sweden, DipImpDen Advanced Certificate (RCS) (Eng), MSc Implant Dentistry (Leeds), BDA, LDC,
GDC Number: 70922

Most people don’t look forward to visiting the dentist. I get it. That’s why, at All Saints Green Dental Clinic in Norwich, my team and I work hard to turn dental appointments into positive, even empowering experiences.

My name is Mandana and I’m the Principal Dentist and Educational Supervisor here. I’ve always been fascinated by the blend of science, artistry, and human connection that dentistry offers. Even after decades in practice, I still find it deeply satisfying to help someone smile with confidence.

I first trained in Gothenburg, Sweden, before making Norwich my home in 1995. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of caring for patients in this community, offering both NHS and private dental services. My commitment to learning has been a constant—I hold a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons and completed my MSc in Implant Dentistry at Leeds University in 2016. This advanced training means I can offer the latest evidence-based solutions for patients who want to restore their smiles.

From 2010 to 2014, I worked at the Royal College of Surgeons, diving into research and dental education, co-authoring papers, and collaborating with colleagues from different specialties. That experience taught me to always ask “why”—so I’m committed to using treatments that are proven to work, not just what’s popular.

Since 2024, I’ve also served as an Educational Supervisor for the East of England. Guiding new dentists keeps me on my toes, and I’m constantly inspired by their curiosity and fresh perspectives. Supporting them as they build their skills and confidence is genuinely rewarding.

I stay connected with the wider profession as an active member of both the Local Dental Committee (LDC) and the British Dental Association (BDA). Being involved in these organisations helps me advocate for high standards and bring the latest thinking back to my patients in Norwich.

Above all, my aim is to make every patient feel listened to, respected, and cared for—whether you’re visiting for a routine check-up or a complex treatment. Dentistry is about trust, empathy, and the relationships we build along the way. If you’re looking for a dental home where you’re more than just a number, you’ll find it here.

This joint role with Dr Ifaniyi Oshiga has been incredibly fulfilling, allowing me to mentor and guide young dental practitioners as they embark on their professional journeys. Witnessing their growth and development into confident and competent clinicians is a source of immense pride and sense of accomplishment.

Outside of my professional life, I am an avid animal lover and cherish the companionship of my pets. Beach holidays are my go-to for relaxation, but I also enjoy nature walks finding peace and inspiration in the great outdoors. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I love exploring new restaurants and savoring different cuisines. I am also a huge football fan.

Ifaniyi Oshiga BDS (Lagos), PG Cert Dental Education
GDC Number: 84829

I graduated from the College of Medicine University of Lagos December 1997. After my House job and National service, I spent most of the next couple of years doing community development work with Action Health Incoorporated (an NGO) from 2000 to 2002, and ended up working for Joint Action Committe on AIDS, an arm of the UN albeit breifly.
My career in the UK started in March of 2005 as an associate in a mixed practice on Canvey Island, till March 2008 when I eventually moved to Norwich as practice pricipal dentist at Beechcroft Dental Practice.
My practice of dentistry has been a mixture of NHS and private dentistry, mostly NHS because I believe that affordable dentistry should be available to everyone.
In this period as practice pricinpal I have engaged in training and development of newly graduated dentist, first with oversees trained dentists from 2010-2013 for the Performer List by Equivalence and from 2012 till date, the DFT programme as an Educational Supervisor.
My interests outside the office include but not limited to watching football and travelling round the world to watch competitions (worldcups and Formula 1), swimming and playing chess.

Practice Address: John G Plummer and Associates - Thorpe, 83 Mary Chapman Close, Thorpe St Andrew, Norfolk. NR7 0UD

Description:
This position is spread across two practices within the Plummer's group. The majority of the time will be spent at our Thorpe St Andrew practice, which is just east of Norwich. It is a purpose built practice with ten surgeries, one of which, along with a recovery room, is used by our oral surgeons to provide a Level two minor oral surgery service. Many FD's spend some time shadowing this for experience. The practice has a staff room and a designated radiography and sterilisation room. There is a large car park behind the building.

The practice runs a shift pattern of 8am-2pm or 2pm - 8pm. There are a number of associates working at this site, many of which have stayed on following their FD year and are just starting their careers. This has the advantage of getting to know a lot of local dentists and learning from their recent experiences too. The position will be taking over the list of the previous FD with some new patients likely included too.

It is about 100 miles from London, which can be easily reached in just under two hours on the train.

As mentioned the primary practice sits east of Norwich in Thorpe St Andrew. This is a small suburb about ten minutes drive from the centre. It is well contacted via bus routes.

Norwich is a great, safe city where you can choose to be busy or choose to escape it all.

The Costessey site has 3 receptionists and a sterilisation nurse.

Location:
Costessey is approximately 15-min drive from the city centre and again well linked by bus routes if required. The practice is located in a run of shops, including a small cafe, chip shop and chinese. By working across two practices it broadens your experience of providing NHS care. The two practices have slightly different feels and a different demographic of patients with different needs. This gives you a good insight into what type of practice you would like to work in going forward into becoming an associate. Working across two sites brings variety into the working week, which then flies by!

John G Plummer and Associates - Lowestoft

Samuel Ssenyonga BDS Peninsula 2015 , Level 7 Certificate in Dental Implantalogy 2024, BSc 2009,
GDC Number: 258271

I qualified from the Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry (Plymouth) in 2015 and completed my Foundation Training at Corton Road Dental Surgery. Following my Foundation Training, I stayed on as an associate dentist with the practice and have remained there ever since. Prior to this I graduated from the Universitry of Essex with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and worked as a Biomedical Scientist before entering dental school. I had a great experience during my foundation training and that was due to the friendly practice environment and supportive and caring educational supervisors (ES) that I had. I have been an ES since 2021 and have enjoyed this role greatly. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and in 2024 I completed a Level 7 Certificate in Dental Implantology. I hope to progress in this aspect of dentistry. Outside of dentistry, I play football, tennis and enjoy spending time with friends and family!

Dominic Ellis BDS BSc (hons)
GDC Number: 295898

I graduated from Kings College London in 2021 and completed my DFT in Lowestoft (the same practice as I currently work at as an associate dentist). Over the following years, I have given advice to new dentists completing their DFT which I have loved doing, highlighting that I had a keen interest in becoming an ES and initiating this role in 2025.
I am currently enrolled in a diploma for orthodontics which has aided me in providing this service on the NHS at the practice.
Outside of dentistry, I have a keen interest in playing golf and watching football.

Practice Address: John G Plummer and Associates - Lowestoft, Corton Road Dental Surgery, 1 Corton Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk. NR32 4PH

Description:
The practice has 17 surgeries and is a mixture of NHS and private dentistry. The practice provides general dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery and implants. There are also two rooms to take radiographs, a kitchen and staff room.
The practice has 9 sister practices across Norfolk and Suffolk, providing specialists in all departments. This allows us to provide the best care for our patients.
The trainee will be provided with the tools and equipment to excel in their first year outside of university.
There is a high dental need in the area and therefore allows plenty of opportunities for a trainee to gain plenty of experience in a wide range of treatments.
There is a large dental team at the practice, with many experienced dentists, dental nurses and receptionists who will be able to support the trainee in managing and treating patients effectively.

Location:
The practice is located in Lowestoft, a small seaside town which is the most easterly town in the UK! Lowestoft is only a short trip to other major locations such as Norwich and Great Yarmouth. Although it may be located away from other major cities, Norfolk has award winning beaches, plenty of places to shop as well as our famous Norfolk Broads (rivers with beautiful scenery).
There are a number of fantastic golf courses in the region and the First Light Festival is a great event which is held on Lowestoft beach each summer.
Lowestoft to London is around 2 hours and 30 minutes train ride, and approximately 40 minute drive to Norwich. Commuting in the region is made much easier for those who drive.

Other Points of Interest:
The practice provides an award winning oral health programme known as Happy Smiles Club, attending schools and social clubs to provide oral health screenings and educational talks! The practice also holds multiple training events to aid in furthering skills in all departments and the practice organises many sports/social events which are great for connecting with other colleagues outside of work.
The practice can aid in finding the perfect home to settle in for your DFT if unknown to the area.

Thorpe St Andrew, Norfolk,   and  New Costessey, Norwich, Norfolk,

John G Plummer and Associates - Thorpe

Stuart McCance BDS
GDC Number: 283536

I have been with the Plummers group since I started my foundation year here in 2019. I have experienced a number of different opportunities since then, building on my career in various fields.

Since 2021 I have been a triager and advanced treatment provider for the East of England Dental Trauma Network, treating patients suffering from dental injuries. I am a keen endodontist and am fortunate now to be working with a microscope treating more complex cases; my aspiration is to pursue further training and specialty status. I also provide training evenings throughout the year on endodontics and trauma.

I am an integral part of our School Screening Team, providing dental check-ups to children in primary and infant schools, as well as overseeing either their treatment in practice or onward referral to community dental services.

I have been an educational supervisor (ES) since 2023, working on the dental therapy foundation programme; a role which I have thoroughly enjoyed and found particularly rewarding. I look forward to now moving into the dental foundation programme.

Since 2021, I have also provided NHS orthodontic services and treatment at two of our practices. I have also been a junior partner at the group since April 2023, getting involved in the running of the business, helping to shape policies, influence recruitment and drive development amongst many aspects.

Outside of the practice, I am also a member of the Local Dental Committee (LDC), which meets several times a year to discuss local and national dental policies. This has been a great way for me to network, get to know what's on the horizon for dentistry and also get involved in exciting new opportunities.

Away from dentistry altogether, I am keen golfer and now spend a most of my spare time with my wife and two boys at the golf course, or ferrying them around to various other sporting commitments. I also have a golden retriever called Gordon.

Kings lynn, Norfolk,

Smile Dental Care

Sonam Sonam BDS, LDS RCS (Eng.)
GDC Number: 276716

I qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2014 and subsequently obtained the Licentiate in Dental Surgery (LDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018. Since qualifying, I have worked in general dental practice, gaining extensive experience in a wide range of clinical procedures, including restorative, preventive, and minor oral surgery.

I have a strong interest in dental education and professional development, which led me to take on the role of Educational Supervisor in 2023. In this role, I have supported EU-qualified dentists in their transition into NHS general practice, providing clinical guidance, feedback, and pastoral support. I take pride in creating a positive and structured learning environment that encourages reflective practice, clinical competence, and professional growth.

I am committed to continuous professional development and regularly attend courses to stay up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry and dental education. I also maintain a strong interest in communication and teamwork, which I believe are essential skills for both clinicians and educators.

Working as an Educational Supervisor has been a rewarding aspect of my career, allowing me to contribute to the development of the next generation of dentists while continuing to provide high-quality care to my patients.

Practice Address: Smile Dental Care , 115-117 high street, Kings lynn, Norfolk. PE301DD
Google Map Link

Description:
The practice is located in the heart of King’s Lynn, a historic market and port town in rural West Norfolk. Positioned on a busy high street, the practice benefits from strong footfall and is within easy reach of both the Norfolk coastline and the city of Norwich. Smile Dental Care took over the premises in July 2022, and the building has since been fully refurbished, offering a modern and well-equipped clinical environment.

We are a mixed NHS and private practice, currently operating six newly equipped surgeries. An additional three surgeries are currently being developed next door and are expected to be ready in mid 2025. Each surgery is spacious, has air conditioning, and most are fitted with ambidextrous dental chairs, making them suitable for both left- and right-handed clinicians. The practice also features an OPG machine to support comprehensive diagnostics.

Our team includes a mix of experienced general dentists and a dental therapist, with some clinicians having special interests in Endodontics and Oral Surgery. This creates an excellent opportunity for knowledge sharing and exposure to a broad range of clinical cases. The wider support team is friendly and experienced, contributing to a positive and collaborative working atmosphere. The practice also benefits from a full team of qualified dental nurses, dedicated reception staff, and a supportive practice manager, all of whom play a key role in creating a smooth and efficient working environment.

The wider Smile Dental Care group also provides additional support in the form of regional clinical leads, compliance teams, and operational managers, ensuring a strong framework around both clinical quality and staff development.

We serve a broad and well-established patient base, offering a wide range of NHS and private treatments. This provides an excellent opportunity for foundation dentists to gain varied clinical experience in a supportive, well-structured, and forward-thinking practice.

Location:
King’s Lynn is a historic market and port town located in West Norfolk. Rich in heritage, the town features beautiful architecture, cobbled streets, and a picturesque waterfront. It offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities, making it an attractive place to live and work.

One of the key strengths of King’s Lynn is its affordability compared to larger cities, offering a high quality of life with lower living costs. The town has a range of local facilities including shopping centres, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, gyms, and leisure centres. There are also good educational institutions and healthcare services in the area.

The town is surrounded by scenic countryside and is only a short drive from the stunning North Norfolk coast, offering opportunities for outdoor activities, walking, and seaside visits. It also provides easy access to nearby towns and cities, including Norwich, Cambridge, and Peterborough.

Transport links are good, with regular train services to London King’s Cross (approx. 1hr 50mins), Cambridge, and Ely. Road access via the A47 and A10 connects King’s Lynn to the wider region, and there is a reliable local bus network.

The local demographic is varied, with a mix of long-term residents, young families, retirees, and an increasing number of professionals moving into the area. This diversity is reflected in the patient base at the practice, providing a wide range of clinical experiences for trainees.

While King’s Lynn is a quieter town compared to larger urban centres, this can be an advantage for those seeking a more relaxed pace of life. It combines the benefits of community living with access to natural beauty, strong transport connections, and a supportive environment for professional development.

Overall, King’s Lynn offers a great balance of lifestyle, affordability, and career opportunity—making it an appealing choice for foundation dentists looking for both clinical experience and quality of life.

Other Points of Interest:
Smile Dental Care King’s Lynn is a friendly and supportive practice where learning and development are a real focus. We’re proud to have been chosen by NHS Norfolk and Waveney ICB to deliver both an Urgent Care scheme and a Child Friendly Dental Practice scheme, which gives our team valuable experience in different areas of patient care.

The practice is currently expanding, with three new surgeries being built to support our continued growth. This will create even more space and opportunity for both patients and the dental team.

We have a close-knit and welcoming team who work well together and enjoy regular team-building activities. Our aim is to create a positive environment where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and part of the team. We’re passionate about helping new dentists grow in confidence and skills, and we do our best to make your training year both productive and enjoyable.

We’re also part of a wider support network through Smile Dental Care, with access to experienced clinicians and advice from the head office team when needed. We work closely with our TryCare representative too, which helps us keep up to date with the latest materials and equipment.

If you’re moving to the area, King’s Lynn offers good-value housing, and we’ve been able to support team members with references and communication with local letting agents. It’s a lovely town to live in—historic, well-connected, and close to both countryside and coast.

Overall, this is a great place to start your dental career in a supportive setting with plenty of learning opportunities and a team that genuinely enjoys working together.

Hooker House Dental Practice

Daniel Evans BDS MFGDP(UK) PgCert
GDC Number: 78354

I qualified from King’s College London in 2000, and worked at my FD practice for 6 years as an associate. I have been an ES since 2004, and in 2007 I bought this well-established mixed practice. In 2004 I achieved the MFGDP diploma, and in 2012 the PgCert in Dental Education. My special interests include cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery and prosthodontics, and implantology. I focus on providing dentistry to a high standard and I have a holistic approach to dental care, believing that the best form of advertising for a practice is a happy patient. I have a relaxed and approachable nature, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching and employing an FD in the practice, watching their development and self-improvement throughout the foundation year. I live near Norwich with my wife Kate, a photographer, and my two daughters Georgie and Sophie. We came to Norfolk 25 years ago, and found the quality of life to be fantastic, enjoying a variety of different sports and local culture. I enjoy cycling, paddleboarding, sailing and snowboarding.

Joshua Davies
GDC Number: 193162

Practice Address: Hooker House Dental Practice, Quay Street , Halesworth , Suffolk . IP19 8EP
Google Map Link

Description:
Hooker House is a large impressive Victorian building located in the centre of Halesworth. The practice has undergone an extensive refurbishment, with two new surgeries, a new reception area, a new decontamination room compliant with HTM 0105 and staff area. The FD’s surgery is very well equipped, with fibreoptic handpieces and piezo scaler, and new instruments and materials. We have recently acquired digital radiographs and the Wave One Reciprocating Endo System, as well as three intra-oral scanners.
As well as the full range of NHS services available, we also offer cosmetic treatments, specialist bruxism splints, flexidentures, anti-snoring appliances, invisalign and implants. There are four other associates working at the practice, and the reception and nursing staff are very experienced and loyal to the practice. The nursing staff are all GDC registered.
Being one of the only NHS providers in the area, we have an established patient base as well as attracting 10-20 new patients a week.
We regularly socialise as a practice. We have also held CPD sessions at the practice with a visiting speaker, and previous FDs have taken part in visiting local schools for dental education. I have also taken the Foundation Dentists to work in a Dentaid charity bus each year. The staff are all local, which means that they know the patients well; this puts the FD at ease in the practice. The staff enjoy having an FD in the practice and I thoroughly encourage staff to be involved in the FD's development during the foundation year.

Location:
Halesworth is a historic market town, with Hooker House well known as a landmark on its town trail. As well as local amenities and attractive shops, there is a local swimming pool, gym/leisure centre and library. The coast is only 20 minutes away, with the beautiful Suffolk towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh if you like unspoilt beaches and water sports. Norwich is a 35 minute drive, and boasts excellent shopping, theatre and nightlife. Ipswich is similarly only 40 minutes drive or train ride, so the options for a prospective FD would be to live in Norwich/Ipswich and commute (previous FDs have preferred this because they have liked living in an urban environment), or to rent in one of the surrounding towns or villages. Halesworth has good links with London, being on a direct train line to Liverpool St, and is only 1½ hours away from London by car.

Previous FDs have very much enjoyed working at the practice because of the types of patients we attract- we have loyal patients who have visited the practice for generations, and those that are new to the area that have retired from London. There is a very relaxed and informal feel to the area, and patients tend to have a high level of trust in our services, which helps to break down barriers and build a good rapport.

Other Points of Interest:
My aim is to provide the FD with a relaxed learning environment, free of pressure to meet targets, and the opportunity to work closely with well-trained staff and friendly patients. We have a lot of new patient enquiries and a substantial book of existing patients so there will be no shortage of patients with a wide range of dental needs, enabling the FD to gain a high level of experience and confidence in treatment throughout the Foundation Year.

The practice is spacious, sociable, well equipped and forward-thinking, and I feel the FD would benefit from the year in such a beautiful market town.

Dental Healthcare Suffolk

Ganga Allen BDS, MSc , PGCert SCD, PGCert Dental Ed
GDC Number: 67473

I qualified in London in 1991 and completed my FD year during 1992. Since then I have gained a broad experience of dentistry working in general dental practice, the community dental service and the hospital dental service. I am a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry and I thoroughly enjoy the variety of my working week. I have been an Educational Supervisor for FDs since 2013 and find it rewarding to support FDs starting their carer in dentistry.

Kara Gates
GDC Number: 211797

Practice Address: Dental Healthcare Suffolk, Hillside Clinic, 7 Hillside Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. P32 7EA
Google Map Link

Description:
Our long standing Bury St Edmunds dental practice which relocated to our current site in April 2018 has 6 brand new, fully equipped modern dental suites which are fully HTM01-05 compliant. There is an OPG machine on site. We have had a foundation dentist at our Bury St Edmunds clinic since 2012 so there is an established list of patients for the new DT.

Hillside clinic is part of a county-wide salaried dental service operating across Suffolk. The dental team consists of 8 Dentists/ Senior Dentists, a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry and 2 Dental Therapists. They are supported by a Business Manager, an Oral Health Promotion team and administrative staff. Our Dental Nurses are some of the best in the business and we actively promote whole team participation. In addition, an oral surgery service and OOH service also operates from our clinic. We are part of CCS and work jointly with the salaried service in Cambridgeshire which also has FDs. Foundation training in this environment is really well supported - the team is close knit, friendly and helpful to each other.

Inhalation sedation is offered at all our sites and we also run an IV sedation service and a hospital based General Anaesthetic service at which we would welcome any DFT to gain experience of if they were interested. Our excellent service has been recognised by the BDA Quality in Dental Services award consistently since 2012.

We recognise that as a FD you will need to gain a grounding in the basics of dentistry before taking on more complex cases. We ensure that the trainee is assigned a list of non special care patients requiring a full range of dental care. There is then ample opportunity to take on more challenging patients or to take part in other services such as GA/sedation should the FD wish to do so later in the year.

Location:
Bury St Edmunds is a thriving market town in Suffolk. We have an on site car park at the dental practice. Great shopping is near by as well as a wealth of options for eating out and entertainment. Bury St Edmunds has good transport links including to nearby Cambridge (30 mins), London (90 mins) and it's just under an hour to Norwich by car.

Other Points of Interest:
If you enjoy good food and socialising this could be the job for you. Working as part of such a big team, there are always social activities organised within the workplace from eating out to book groups - it is always good fun and a great way to let off steam at the end of a busy week.
All clinicians meet quarterly as a peer review group, which provides a great opportunity for DFTs to practice case presentations, get second, third, and fourth opinions and to discuss clinical matters in a convivial atmosphere.

If you are looking for a rewarding, satisfying job with great team working, we're listening!

Hi!

My name is Cheerag and I am one of the Educational Supervisors and Practice Owner at Tavern Street Dental Practice.

I qualified from the University of Manchester in 2009, completed my Foundation Year 1 training in Wilshire and then completed my Foundation Year 2 training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital in 2011. During this time, I also attained my Membership with the Joint Dental Faculty (MJDF) at the Royal College of Surgeons, England.

In 2012 I started working as an Associate (six months of this was in Australia) and have embarked upon many Post Graduate Training courses, such as Restorative modules at Kings College, Dental Implants at the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology and completed advance training in Facial Aesthetics.

This wil be my 6th year as an Educational Supervisor and I really understand how important this Foundation Year is, and I can't wait to help and support my FD during their first year in Practice and beyond.

Outside of Dentistry I enjoy my quiet country lifesytle, spending time with my young family and 2 adorable little dogs (Coco and Poppy). I am also a keen Football and Motor Sports fan and frequently travel up to the North West to watch my beloved Manchester United!

I joined Tavern street Dental Practice in 2023 and completed my mentorship with Chirag Raval. who was very supportive and always has an open door policy. We are lucky to have multiple specialist in the practice which our FDs are able to shadow which I found very valuable. We are a fully digital and paperless practice, with clinipads, a Cone Beam CT Scanner, Digital X-rays, Software of Excellence computer systems, and TV Screens on the walls in all surgeries.
After completing my mentorship i have an interest in orthodontics and proceeded to complete level 1 and 2 Suresmile courses.
I have helped our FDs that we have had the last two years but this is my first year as an educational supervisor and I am looking forward to helping you develop your dental skills and knowledge
