Welcome to EOE Mentoring!
Supporting East of England doctors to reach their full potential

We are pleased to launch our new digital mentoring platform MentorNet for East of England trainees!

Why get involved in Mentoring?
Mentoring is a tool to help personal and professional development and has been shown to improve knowledge, skills and self confidence in a supportive environment. It gives mentors the chance to hone their leadership skill and networking opportunities, and gives mentees the chance to develop a structured approach to problem solving and gain valuable career enhancing support. It is promoted by many professional bodies including the GMC, BMA and various Royal Colleges. This is a fantastic opportunity for senior trainees to take on a leadership role. Please watch the short animated video below to learn more about the benefits of mentoring.

What does it involve?
  • Please register via this link for mentees and this link for mentors (See our Resources page for written and video guides to help you with registration and using the website). If you are already part of the old mentoring scheme, we ask that you please complete a new registration form and contact us if you would like to be matched to the same mentee on the platform.
  • Once registered, mentees will be able to search for a mentor in their specialty and request a match. This will then be approved by admin and mentors will be informed of the match.
  • We would encourage approximately three meetings over 3-6 months, with clear objectives chosen by the mentee for each meeting. Meetings can be in person or virtual.
  • We ask you both to complete a Mentoring agreement (Activity Log) at your first meeting. This helps you to understand your meetings are confidential and set any boundaries that may be important to either of you.
  • We encourage a ‘no-fault divorce’ – this means if you are unable to continue the partnership you can withdraw at any time without need for reason. We do ask you let us know in a timely fashion such that we can provide re-matching of partnerships.
Is there any support?
  • Mentors can access the Mentoring Masterclass for training - this is also available on the 'Resources' tab on MentorNet
  • There are guides, FAQ and training resources on the MentorNet website.
  • We hold virtual workshops for development of mentoring skills and support.
  • You can discuss tips and issues with other mentees and mentors in the forums.
  • We are here to support you so if you have any questions or issues, please do not hesitate to email us: england.mentoring.eoe@nhs.net
Will I receive a certificate for my Portfolio?
Certificates of participation are available on completion of your relationship.
