Basildon Scheme General Practice Rotation
During your three year program, you will spend 18 months in a General Practice Surgery. You will spend six months in either ST1 or ST2 in one surgery followed by one full year in ST3 in the same surgery as your program Educational Supervisor (ES).
Learning opportunities include your own clinic sessions, home visits, Out-of-Hours care and Duty Doctor shifts, administrative work, practice meetings and dedicated weekly tutorial sessions with an assigned trainer. You will be closely supervised at all times by a certified GP trainer to help fulfill your educational aspirations to its highest potential.
Wednesdays at Basildon GP Training Program are split into AM and PM sessions: AM session is protected group teaching and PM session is a half-day release for personalised educational needs. Group teaching include lectures from hospital consultants, practicing GP's and simulation sessions with hired professional actors to help candidates prepare for their exams.

We are a training practice with 13000 patients in Billericay, which is a leafy commuter town between Chelmsford and Basildon. Our clinical team comprises seven doctors, several of whom work part-time and of which four are partners. We work with two nurse practitioners, three practice nurses and two health care assistants. We have been training since 2008 and have a reputation for providing a supportive environment for trainees.

Laindon Medical Group has a long established history of GP training with very successful outcomes. Currently we have 6 Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners and 4 Practice Nurses. We currently have a list of 18500 which over the next few years is likely to increase considerable due to the redevelopment of Laindon Centre which will provide a new shopping centre and additional housing for the area.

We are a semi-rural/ urban, part dispensing Practice (list size 8000 pts) with four Partners who provide a comprehensive range of Primary Care Services from two privately owned premises, the main Surgery in Orsett village, the branch Surgery in nearby Grays town. We use the EMIS computer system. We have our full complement of Staff - Practice Manager, two Practice Nurses, and eleven receptionists most of whom work part-time. We have been a Training Practice since 1989 and continue to provide an enthusiastic and supportive training environment. We are happy to extend this to Medical Students and undergraduates considering a career in Medicine.
Orsett has had a lot residential development in recent years. We have recently taken on an additional Salaried Doctor to continue the high level of service to our patients. We continually attain high QOF scores. Our OOH cover is provided by IC24. Patient Satisfaction surveys suggest a high level of satisfaction among our Patients. We ourselves continue to find General practice a challenging and rewarding career.We are a friendly practice with two of our other partners being in the process of becoming trainers.

Deal Tree Health Centre is in the village of Doddinghurst near Brentwood. We are currently a training practice looking after ST1 & ST2 trainees. Our Associate trainer Dr Sandhu is currenty upgrading her training status so that we will be able to train ST3 students in the near future. We also have contracts with the university – Anglian Ruskin – and train PA associate trainees. We currently have 3 partners, soon to be 4 and a part time salaried GP. Deal Tree have also been taking part in the ‘in house pharmacist programme’.
All our current partners have grown with our surgery starting with us as a trainee to salaried to partner which speaks volumes for our practice.
We currently have 9500 patients and are a high QOF achiever with a brilliant team who work very well together.

The Derry Court Medical Practice is situated in South Ockendon, Thurrock. Our population is younger than the national average and diverse, making it a good place to learn. The town has very good transportation connections to anywhere you want to go. As a Practice, we try to be as innovative as possible. This will give you the opportunity to contribute to the development of the practice. Staff are very supportive and we will work with you to provide the individual support you need.

We have been a longstanding Partnership with our newest Partner joining us in August 2017. Our Primary Healthcare Team support the Partnership in ensuing that we maintain a high standard of care that strives to meet the expectations of today's patient while balancing the resources primary care is afforded. We are fortunate to have a strong a team of individuals with low staff turnover which has enabled us to continue to achieve a good rating by the Care Quality Commission, high results in the Quality and Outcomes Framework and has afforded us a strong relationship with our colleagues in the local Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group.

Stifford Clays Medical Practice moved into a single storey purpose built primary care health centre in 1974 with 4 partners and a salaried G.P. We currently have a patient population of just over 9,700. Many years ago we were given the opportunity to be a training practice. Dr Rasool is a Full trainer while Dr Mohile and Dr Chandran offer clinical supervision to trainee nurses and doctors.

We have 2 partners, Advanced Clinical Pharmacist,2 Paramedics, 2 Nurses and long-term locum GPs serving approximately 5000 patients over 2 sites. We are a friendly practice that has just been accredited to train GPs. Lead Trainer Dr Jean-Michel Wendorff is a partner here at the surgery . He has been training GPs for over 5 years in Out-of-Hours settings.
