The strabismus course is an all day course run at Addenbrooke's Hospital. This year, we will have the support of Mr Anthony Vivian and myself. It involves learning and practicing the basic strabismus technique on cadaveric eyes insitu. The aim of the course is to take trainees through the process of hooking muscles, suturing, disinserting the muscle and re-suturing to the globe. Muscle recessions/resections and we can discuss adjustable suture techniques as well as more complex procedures involving the superior oblique and inferior oblique for more advanced trainees. We aim to keep it very practical with more hands on teaching rather than didactic lectures.
You will work in pairs and more senior trainees will be paired with more junior trainees.
