The Educational Supervisor: After qualifying from University of Liverpool in 2006 I have predominantly practiced as a General dental practitioner in the Midlands. The roles have been with Independent practices and Corporate practices. My current role is with Mydentist Sinfin (Derby) and I have been here since 2017 and this includes providing orthodontic treatment through removable aligners. In 2010 I completed a hospital placement as a SHO in a busy Maxilofacial department. This included A&E emergency care, facial trauma, surgical extractions, intra oral and extra oral suturing and soft tissue management.
My first Mentoring/Supervisory role was in 2018 as a NHS Work place supervisor for a colleague who graduated from Ireland. In 2018 I became a NHS Validation Supervisor supporting a colleague who graduated from outside the EU. This was completed May 2020. The second NHS validation supervisor role started Jan 2022 and completed January 2023. These experiences have enhanced my mentoring style. Allowing me to identify strengths and weakness and support colleagues in areas needing development. The mentoring experiences have been very rewarding, seeing these colleagues develop through the years into confident and capable dentists.
My general dentistry is focused towards prevention and providing a genuinely caring environment for patients and staff. My experiences have allowed me to gain broad knowledge and understanding of dentistry.
The Practice: Mydentist Sinfin is a 3 Surgery practice providing a full range of NHS care. Our team currently consists of 2 Associates dentists, 1 hygienist and a therapist. Surgeries are all capable of left and right hand working

The Area: Situated in Derby, Sinfin has strong transport links into the city with a bus stop directly outside of practice and road network 10 minutes from the A50 leading to the M1. On site parking for staff and patients. The practice is on the edge of a shopping precinct that includes a large Asda store, petrol station, post office, fast food outlets, chemist and bakery. The practice is 5 miles from Derby City centre and the abundance of amenities this offers
Other Points of Interest: Derby is a well proportioned city in a central location for easy access to nearby cities such as Nottingham, Birmingham , Sheffield. There is a wide variety of accommodation available both in the city of Derby and further out.
Mydentist has several hundred practices in England and this has allowed Mydentist to develop initiatives that support dentists. These opportunities include access to a wide range of courses and mentoring opportunities. Some of these include dental implants and orthodontics opportunities. One of these initiatives is a simple Whatsapp groups for clinicians within Nottingham Derby area. There are about 100 clinicians in the group of varying experiences and specialties. This creates an additional layer of support for colleagues on clinical and administrative matters. Most queries get responses within a few minutes.

- management of a large radiolucency affecting several lower central incisors,
- Impression techniques for patient with a strong gag reflex,
- Claiming of certain NHS courses
- Referral centres for complex restorative cases.
