The Educational Supervisors: I graduated from The University of Birmingham in 2007 and completed my foundation training year in the East of England in Suffolk. Following this I started working at Water Orton Dental Centre in 2008 and have been here since. I completed a post graduate certificate in medical education in 2018 and have been an ES since 2021. I am approachable, friendly and flexible and will tailor your foundation training year to your needs. Myself and the whole team will support you with your clinical and non-clinical requirements and will provide a relaxed environment for you to develop and gain confidence.
Outside of work I am a mum to three girls and like spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy travelling when I get the opportunity and am a keen baker.
The Practice: Water Orton Dental Centre is a mixed NHS and private practice. There are three dental surgeries, with the refurbished FD surgery having an intra-oral camera and wall mounted screen to help facilitate patient communication. The FD will be assisted by an experienced dental nurse and supported by the whole dental team.
There are a stable list of patients at the practice and we also see new patients so the FD will get a good mix of patients to develop their skills.
The Area: Water Orton is a village in North Warwickshire and is situated between Castle Bromwich and Coleshill. We are located on a small high street along with a variety of shops. In the village there are a couple of pubs, a primary school, a church, a park, and village hall. There is parking available on a nearby street, a short distance from the practice, at the train station or outside the practice.
There are good transport links to Water Orton. It is situated a 10 minute drive from Birmingham airport and the NEC. There is a railway station in Water Orton which connects the village to Birmingham city centre. Additionally motorway junctions for the M6, M6 toll and M42 are a short drive away.
Other Points of Interest: The practice has an experienced team and friendly associates that are happy to provide advice and support alongside the ES. The practice is fully computerised and uses digital radiographs. A DSLR camera, rotary endodontic system and an OPG/CBCT machine is also available for the FD to use. Water Orton Dental Centre has a contract to provide Minor Oral Surgery services so the FD will get to observe surgical procedures and gain knowledge from the visiting oral surgeon. In addition we are able to use the experience of an implant dentist and Clinical Dental Technician at our sister practice and again if the FD wanted to observe in these fields we could arrange this.
