The Educational Supervisors: Tom graduated from the University of Birmingham Dental Hospital in 2002. He was one of four students in his year to be nominated for the James Youngson Prize in Clinical Dentistry and in his final year won the Charles Green Prize in Oral Surgery and General Anesthesia. After qualification he spent several years as a Clinical Assistant in Oral Surgery teaching undergraduate dental students at Birmingham Dental Hospital. He has been an educational supervisor to newly qualified dentists on the Foundation Dental Programme for many years. In 2019 he was awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Educations, PGCertMedEd. Tom has further advanced his clinical surgical skills in Dental Implantology and has had extensive experience in the treatment of complex restorative cases using various hard or soft tissue augmentation techniques. Tom prioritises the use of cutting edge clinical techniques supported by evidence based dentistry to achieve excellence in patient focused care.
Simon qualified from Birmingham University in 2001. After completing his Vocational Training, he continued his studies working in both General Dental and Specialist Orthodontic Practice. During this time, he obtained his Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP) from the Royal College of Surgeons. Simon continued to work in a Specialist Orthodontic practice for 17 years treating over 2500 cases whilst continuing to advance his skills in both Orthodontics, Cosmetic and General Dentistry. Simon is a highly experienced Invisalign Platinum certified provider and is able to advise on the most appropriate orthodontic option for all cases. Simon is keen to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with young dentists. In 2019 he completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education PGCertMedED. He has been a trainer on the Foundation Dentist Programme for 6 years, lectures to the post graduate dentists and helps mentor them in their early years.
The Practice: The practice is committed to providing the highest quality of dental care based on sound scientific evidence in a caring and friendly atmosphere by a highly qualified team of dental professionals. We are a long standing practice, serving the village and surrounding area for over 50 years. In 2017 we relocated to a purpose built state of the art facility. We have an OPG machine, are fully digital; including X-rays and CADCAM for crowns, inlays and onlays which are manufactured on site with our in house milling machine. The successful FD will have the opportunity to use this.
The Area: Water Orton is a beautiful village in the North Warwickshire It is located between Castle Bromwich and Coleshill, close to the airport and NEC. It borders onto Birmingham city centre and lies near Solihull. The village has excellent transport links and is close to the M6, M6 toll and M42 motorways. It is Just 10 mins from junction 6 of the M42. The village railway station, just 5 mins walk from the practice has services running from Birmingham and Leicester.
