The Validation Supervisor:  I qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2003. My special area of interest is dental implants. I also do orthodontics and the full spectrum of restorative dentistry. I have had experience as a Educational supervisor for a VTE and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and rewarding to see others develop. I believe this is a good practice for training because:

• It has good facilities, i.e internet access everywhere.
• Space for private study
• Relaxing environment within the staff area.
• Well trained staff and good support.
• Experience of the multidisciplinary team (Hygienist, Therapist and within Dentists). I have nearly 20 years of experience.

The Practice: Blagreaves Dental Practice is a 7 surgery spacious dental practice with significant parking to the front (for staff) and rear (for patients) of the practice. It has a central reception area on ground floor conveniently situated to greet incoming patients, deal with patient enquiries and paperwork for outgoing patients. The reception has 6 work stations. There are 4 surgeries in ground floor and 3 on the first floor. There is a large staff room/study area on the first floor. 3 rooms are used for decontamination.
As the principal dentist I have overall responsibility and use Agilio/iComply for clinical governance to ensure we remain compliant. Since the pandemic, I use an external company to help monitor the financial position of the practice. The company is called Spot on Business Planning (SOBP).

The Area: The local area is known as Littleover and is nice to work in relatively affluent area of Derby. The village, is the shopping area on the Derby to Burton road, approximately 2 miles south west of Derby. There is a wide variety of shops and services in the village, including a Kwik Save, Iceland, garage, 2 butchers, and two pubs called the Half Moon and the White Swan.
