The Educational Supervisor: I qualified in 2012 from the University of Liverpool. Since qualifying I have worked in general practise carrying out NHS and private work. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a ES in the past and have found this role to be very rewarding. I also obtained my MSc in aesthetics and restorative dentistry from Manchester university in 2018 and enjoy this aspect of my work.
I have been an ES to three FDs and was also a FD in Lincolnshire so will hopefully be aware of and understand my FD's needs. I am very approachable and hope to provide a supportive and enjoyable year.
In my spare time I like to take advantage of the beautiful beaches and woodland Lincolnshire has to offer by getting out on walks with my family, as well as mountain biking and climbing, when child care allows!
The Practice: Broadway dental practice is an independently owned practice with 6 surgeries. It provides NHS and private care which is delivered by 5 dentists, 1 hygienist and 1 therapist. The practice owner has a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer. In the past she was TPD and ES in the Oxford region and thus you will have her support too. There is also an in-house endodontist who works part time and will welcome any queries. Finally, there is another clinician who acts as a mentor for the PLVE scheme and supports clinicians who have qualified abroad and wish to work in the NHS. The support staff includes 8 nurses and a practice manager.
As a practice we offer all aspects of general dentistry to the community. The practice has a long-established reputation which we aim to maintain.
The Area: Woodhall spa is a beautiful village set amongst pine wood forests and in the past it has been awarded the title of best kept village. It has a variety of attractions including golf courses, a cinema and tea rooms set in the woodland, and Jubilee Park, which holds a gym and outdoor pool and is of historical significance and is a heritage site associated with the Dambusters. With all this in mind it is perfectly suited for walks, biking and enjoying local shops, coffee houses and restaurants. The local rural area is a desirable place to live for FD's - alternatively Lincoln is the nearest city 30mins drive away and can also be accessed by bus.
Other Points of Interest: Broadway surgery and I aim to provide a supportive environment to learn and develop knowledge and skills. As well as myself there will be many experienced staff around to provide support in different fields. Each has their area or expertise including endodontics, removable prosthodontics, MOS, and restorative dentistry.
My aim is to provide you with a relaxed and supportive learning environment. We have a list of established existing patients and also a waiting list of new patients which should provide a variety of dental treatment. Patients we see tend to want to keep their teeth and look after their teeth thus we carry out a fair amount of endo and restorative treatment. There is also a fair number of older patients who require full and partial dentures thus allowing FD's to gain a lot of experience in this area.
