Pharmacy in practice
Clinical and specialist practice in all sectors of pharmacy are essential to attract professionals to continue to develop their careers and lead advances in medicines optimisation. Priority areas for our region are mental health, antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) and advancing innovation in the future utilising genomics.
The NHS Long Term plan supports care as close as possible to where people live. To help achieve this we are supporting education for more specialist mental health pharmacists to work in primary care settings. In addition we support all pharmacy professionals to be confident supporting people living with mental health conditions to manage their medicines and express their choices about their medication choices.
The vision for the AMS workstream is that conservation of antimicrobials is recongised as everyones responsibility and are empowered to use antimicrobials wisely, reducing the treat of resistance and increasing sustainability.
This new pathway aims to support eligible learners in all sectors to meet the revised learning outcomes of the new Post-registration Foundation Pharmacist Curriculum, as part of their journey towards advanced practice and prescribing.
