The Educational Supervisor: I qualified from Birmingham in 2014; and joined Wisdom Dental Care in 2015 as an associate. This will be my first year as an ES. My  interests include cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery and intravenous sedation; and looking to complete a certificate in implantology. We receive referrals from external practices. My primary focus is providing high quality care; I have a very relaxed and approachable nature - having trained multiple apprentice nurses, My aim as an ES is to provide the best possible learning environment and one in which the FD's skills can be further developed post university. 
I live in Birmingham with my wife and son!

The Practice: Wisdom Dental Care operates from a newly refurbished practice (completed in 2016), more recent work has been done to create a new surgery for the newly arriving FD! 

The practice is a 5 surgery site, and at any one time there are at least 3 dentists, including the FD, and a hygienist doing both NHS and private work. Some of the associates have been recent FDs within the West Midlands so they are familiar with the training year and can aid both clinically, as well as with the non-clinical tasks the FD will be required to do through the year to successfully pass the training year.
All our nurses are qualified or mid-training and the FD will always have an experienced, qualified dental nurse assisting them, You will never have to work alone or unassisted. The FDs clinical days are Monday - Thursday; and Friday is usually a training day.
We have an experienced reception team this is not just good at patient and appointment management, but also aware of  how to manage each individual dentists appointment diary.

The Area:  The practice is situated in an area of Birmingham called Great Barr, 10 minute drive from M6 Junction 7. The practice serves a close-knit community and has a loyal patient base - with some patients on the books for 25+ years.. There are several schools in close proximity to the practice which produces a diverse number of patients with varying needs. Birmingham is expanding rapidly creating a constant influx of new patients. The practice has the advantage of having a patient base willing to invest in their teeth enabling FDs to carry out a wide range of dental treatments; and great for your experience!
