The Educational Supervisor: I qualified in 2007 from the University of Birmingham. I completed my Foundation Training in a practice in Knowle, where I stayed on as an associate for 11 years thereafter. I was a ES at the practice from September 2016 till August 2019, and moved to Alvechurch dental practice in September 2019. I also work as a clinical dental tutor at the University of Birmingham where I teach fifth year students. I have an interest in all aspects of dentistry particularly oral surgery and restorative dentistry.
The Practice: The practice is set in the heart of Alvechurch and is a long established practice serving the local community. The property is a grade II listed building with lots of character. It is a 3 surgery practice, and each of the surgeries have been recently been updated. We are fully computerised using Software of Excellence, use of digital x-rays including an OPG and access to rotary NiTi. The practice is well equipped for most dental procedures including oral surgery, restorative cases and we have a vast range of materials. We have access to a SLR camera and an intra-oral camera. We are a busy practice with long standing patients.
The Area: Alvechurch is a town located just on the outskirts of Birmingham and a few miles from Redditch. It has very good motorway links with Junction 2 of the M42 a few minutes away. There is a train station within a five minute walk from the practice. There are some lovely cafe's and restaurants close to the practice, and a local Co-op. The practice is also close to the Worcester/Birmingham canal.
Other Points of Interest: We are part of a group of three practices. We have a hygienist and an orthodontist working at the Alvechurch practice, however do have access to dentists with special interests in endodontics and restorative dentistry.
