The Educational Supervisor: Rajesh Handa graduated in 1991 from Mysore University, India and completed post-graduation (MSc) Prosthetic Dentistry from Bristol University. He has varied interest and works as Associate Specialist in Oral Surgery at Birmingham Dental Hospital and Honorary Clinical Lecturer with the University of Birmingham. He is an examiner with the Royal College of Surgeons, England, for MJD, LDS, ORE exams and core examiner for LDS. He is a mentor appointed by West Midlands Deanery.
He has a special interest in Implants, surgical procedures, wisdom teeth removal, maxillary sinus grafting or sinus lift, root canal treatment and cosmetic dentistry. He is a member of ICOI and has been awarded a fellowship in Implant Dentistry. He is a visiting Dentist to other practices where he provides oral surgery and implant treatment. Has special interest in treating anxious patients under sedation.
Rajesh Handa has been an educational supervisor since 2010.
Outside of work Rajesh enjoys going to the gym, playing badminton, meditating and spending time with his family.
The Practice: Aesthetics Dental and Implant Surgery is a well established practice for over 60 years situated in the heart of Moseley with easy access to bus routes and easily accessible from Birmingham City Centre. We have 4 computerised, fully digital x-ray with OPG facility, modern surgeries, 2 on the ground floor and 2 on the first floor. Our dental team comprises of Rajesh Handa and Renuka Handa the principal dentists and associate dentists Tosin Bolarinwa, Samira Patel (special interest in Orthodontics), Abrar Ahmed, Salma Anwari, Yashvi Shah and dental therapist Ruby Kang.
We are a mixed NHS and Independent practice and offer Denplan to our patients. We have a large patient base with many being longstanding patients. We do have a continuous flow of new patients to the practice.We have fully qualified dental nurses with many years experience to help support the FD.
We have been a BDA good practice since 2014.
The Area: Moseley is a suburb of south Birmingham, 3 miles from the city centre and close to Kings Heath High Street. The area is a popular cosmopolitan residential location with many listed buildings and a popular leisure destination with Cannon hill park and Edgbaston cricket ground within a short distance, with a number of bars and restaurants. There are also many boutiques and specialist retailers.
In the summer months Farmers markets and festivals take place. Moseley has its own monthly magazine B13 reporting on local events- it has been printing since May 1973.
Moseley was the childhood haunt of JRR Tolkien and attracts fans of his famous The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings stories to the city.
Other Points of Interest: We have a digital camera on site and rotary endo. The FD will also have the opportunity to observe Rajesh Handa during Implant placing, sedation and other cosmetics work. Air conditioning in surgeries and waiting room. The FD will have full control of their appointment book. The FD will have a qualified, experienced nurse and weekly tutorials with their ES which can be tailored to the FDs needs and can be used to discuss patient cases. Rajesh operates an open door policy and is always on hand.
