The Educational Supervisor: I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011. Following this I undertook FD training at the sister practice for Water Orton Dental Centre. I then completed a year working in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery before returning to practice to work as an associate. I have worked at Water Orton Dental Centre as an associate dentist since 2013, and have been an ES here since 2016.
I have a keen interest in education having completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. I will provide you with as much support as you require both clinically and for completion of postgraduate exams such as MJDF or MFDS. I am very approachable and operate an open door policy to the FD and other members of staff.
Outside of work I love to spend time with family and friends, and travel when I get the opportunity. I also enjoy playing the piano and clarinet, and I am a leader of an organisation that provides water activities for young people.
The Practice: Water Orton Dental Centre is a mixed NHS and private practice. There are three dental surgeries, with the refurbished FD surgery having an intra-oral camera and wall mounted screen to help facilitate patient communication. The FD will be assisted by an experienced dental nurse and supported by the whole dental team.
The practice operates a fully computerised SOE Exact notes system, along with ExaminePro digital radiographs. We have a DSLR camera with accessories and rotary endodontics is available. An OPG and CBCT scanner was installed in April 2019.
Water Orton Dental Centre has a contract to provide Minor Oral Surgery services. In addition we have an implant placement dentist working at the practice, as well as a Clinical Dental Technician. We have good links with other practices allowing visits to observe other specialists working if you so wish.
The Area: Water Orton is a village in North Warwickshire and is situated between Castle Bromwich and Coleshill. We are located on a small high street along with a variety of shops. In the village there are a couple of pubs, a primary school, a church, a park, and village hall.
There are good transport links in Water Orton. It is situated a 10 minute drive from Birmingham airport and the NEC. There is a railway station in Water Orton which connects the village to Birmingham city centre. Additionally motorway junctions for the M6, M6 toll and M42 are less than a 5 minute drive away.
Other Points of Interest: The practice has an experienced team and friendly associates that are happy to provide advice and support should the ES be away from the practice at any time. Even when the ES is on site the FD is encouraged to discuss cases and get advice from other dentists to develop learning opportunities.
