The Educational Supervisor: I have been an ES since 2005 and am very committed to the development of FDs and have a great deal of valuable experience to share. I graduated from Guys Hospital in 1993 and spent the following two years in maxillofacial surgery before completing foundation training in Chichester. I was the principle dentist at Broadway until October 2018 when I became an associate again! I feel that I have much experience to share, not only in general practice but I also have a specail interest in orthodontics and work one day a week as a clinical assistant at Grantham Hospital. I also provide NHS orthodontics for children at the practice and offer fixed adult and Invisalign. Through my my association within the hospital trust I have secured a honourary clinical assistant post for the prospective FD to undertake a oral surgery GA list working alongside an associate specialist.
I am an active member of our local dental organizations and am a member of the Local Dental Committee and a past chairman of the Lincoln Branch of the BDA
Outside of work I am married with two children. I enjoy spending time with them and the odd game of golf.
The Practice: We have a two storey five surgery purpose built practice. It is a mixed NHS (75%) and private/Denplan practice.The practice is very well equipped, fully digital, with rotary endo and a microscope. The practice has recently expanded offering good staff facilities and space for teaching and all the surgeries have been renovated recently to a high standard. We have a team of experienced staff including a part-time endodontist.
The Area: The surgery is located on the main street in Woodhall Spa, this is an affluent large village situated in the centre of Lincolnshire, previously a spa resort where people came from all over the country to "take the waters" the village therefore has a number of large hotels and beautiful tree-lined avenues. It is well served with shops, restaurants and bars and is now a popular tourist destination again. It is home to Woodhall Spa Golf Club owned by the English Golf Union and rated as one of the top 50 golf courses in the world.
Lincoln is 18 miles away. It is a beautiful city with a world famous cathedral and a thriving university (which recently opened the UKs newest medical school last year). The county is rural and it is essential that you have a driving license.
Other Points of Interest: My connection with the local hospital trust has enabled me to secure a permanent weekly session of oral surgery for the ES to work alongside the maxillofacial team in a GA operating list at Pilgrim Hospital. This runs throughout the year. I offer orthodontic treatment and am happy to share this and we a have an endodontist working with us on a part-time basis. The FD will be able to gains lots of broad and valuable experience at the practice. Many past FDs have stayed on or gone on to take up hospital posts having had the unique benefit of the oral/maxillofacial placement. We look forward to welcoming you to our team.
