The Educational Supervisor: I qualified from Manchester University Dec 1990, being one of a handful to pass with Honors. After several years as an associate dentist in a busy NHS practice in Liverpool I moved to Nottingham to become a Senior House Officer in Maxillofacial Surgery at Kingsmill Hospital. Later while working as a Clinical Assistant in Restorative Dentistry at Sheffield Dental Hospital, I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Restorative Dentistry. After the practice I was working at sold to Oasis Dental Care I decided to purchase my own. I bought the practice in Cotgrave in 2000 and as it was very run down, spent time developing and modernising it. During this period, we achieved BDA Good Practice Gold award and Investors in People. I was also the Dental Representative on the Professional Executive Committee in Rushcliffe for 2 years and later a member of the Local Dental Committee in Nottingham until 2018.  In 2014 I sold the business to MyDentist and have continued to work here as the Practice Principle Dentist. I have been an Educational Supervisor since 2008 and remain committed and passionate about training Foundation Dentists with the full support of MyDentist. This year I have completed training in Mentoring and Coaching to enhance my skills further for my ES role. I am always willing to help and support other team members, so they are able to broaden and develop their skills and self -confidence.

The Practice: The team at MyDentist is made up of an ES, FD, two Associate Dentists and a Dental Hygienist along with a Practice Manager, two receptionists, qualified Dental Nurses [one of which holds a Radiography qualification] and a trainee nurse.  MyDentist has three well-equipped treatment rooms all with full clinical computer system [R4], digital radiographs & air-conditioning. There is an OPG machine and a separate decontamination suite. The practice is tastefully decorated throughout, with a bright and airy conservatory lounge area to create a comfortable, relaxing environment for patients. Disabled clients benefit from ramped access to a lowered reception area, spacious washroom facilities and ground floor surgery. There is also a hearing loop and information leaflets are available in Braille or large print. There is ample car park space at the front of the building with a small public car park adjacent. The practice has recently passed its CQC inspection.

Clinically we offer a comprehensive choice to patients from full dental care under the NHS to Private Denplan Care or Essentials Plans. The goal is to offer the highest quality cosmetic treatments as well as routine restorative and preventative care. The approach is friendly, informative and aimed at looking after patients as individuals, tailoring treatment to personal requirements. The patient base is predominantly a well-maintained NHS list, receptive to private treatment options. MyDentist is popular with families as we hold designated fun children’s days for routine dental examinations in school holidays.
