The Educational Supervisor: Frazer Wanstall has been a Eduational Supervisor trainer since 2003. I am always passionate about supporting new graduates in every aspect of their first year of dentistry. I believe this year can make an enormous difference to how a young dentist will enjoy their first 5 years in the profession, we need to get you really competent and confident by the end of the year.  There is an enormous amount of practical skills and information to learn in the first few months and we recognize that every FD will have different levels of skill. Our aim is to give you a comprehensive variety of experience and to let you develop at your own pace. Support will be available in 'bucketfuls' with no pressure to achieve work that you may not feel comfortable with. The only essential you need is enthusiasm. I will try to get you involved in sedation Implants oral surgery and some orthodontics, if you want.
We take pride in the success of our FDs and four out of the last five FDs have become associates at the practice, Many of our old FDs still come back for practice socials.

The Practice: The practice is ideally situated on the main route from university into the town center, approximately 500 meters from the students union and 300 meters from the town center. The practice is predominantly purpose built. Being relatively new, surgeries are a good size  and well equipped disabled access is good. With six busy surgeries there is always something going on and you will be welcomed throughout the building. The FOundatioon Dentist's surgery is next door to the ESs. There is an OPT and all radiography is digital. We have a new decontamination room. We have some very experienced staff who will support you throughout the year.
As you would expect the equipment works well and BUPA are good at keeping things running. The whole building is air conditioned we are fully computerized  and you will gain very useful insight into how a corporate structure works.  

The Area: Loughborough is a thriving market town with a population of 60000. It has one of the largest campus universities in the country. There are excellent sports facilities and the night life is lively with plenty of pubs and clubs. The town is surrounded with beautiful scenery being on the edge of the New National Forest and having Leicestershire’s largest country park a few minutes drive away. City life is easily accessible with Nottingham, Derby and Leicester all within 15 miles. 
We are walking distance to town centre. There is a bus stop directly outside the practice which links to the university, town centre and train station. The station is a 10 minutes ride away. Trains to London take approx 90 minutes. J23 of the M1 is 3 miles away and the East midlands airport is 20 min away.
