The Educational Supervisor: Jatinder Kaur - I joined Castle Dental Care in 2007 as an associate having just completed my FD year. Having seen the practice and team grow over the years I became a partner in 2013. I became an Educational Supervisor 4 years ago and it has been an extremely satisfying and rewarding role. I completed a postgraduate certificate in Medical Education as well as a coaching and mentoring course in order to allow me to fulfil this role to a higher standard. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and have a particular interest in endodontics and oral surgery. I enjoy running and keeping fit as well as quality time with family and friends.
The Practice: Castle Dental Care is a modern practice with 8 surgeries. We hold a large NHS contract with a wide patient base, being one of the largest practices in the area.
We offer in house IV sedation, orthodontics as well as private hygienist and implant services. This benefits patient planning and aids in a multidisciplinary approach to successful patient management.
Each surgery has modern equipment, with digital X-rays and endodontic rotary files. There is an OPG machine and a dSLR camera. Having a central sterilisation area with designated clean and dirty areas, we fulfil best practice requirements and give the treatment rooms a minimalistic feel.
There is a large teaching facility and meeting room with overhead projector and laptop, as well as a library with computer and colour printer. Large staff room and kitchen to accommodate the team.
Ample parking space is available as we are in a Retail Park.
The Area: Castle Dental Care is housed in a Sainsbury's Retail Park, 6 miles away from Birmingham City Centre. Jn 5 off the M6, close links to all the motorways. Bus stops outside the Retail Park with links to the City Centre. Fort Shopping Centre , Fort Dunlop and the Jaguar factory are close by .
Other Points of Interest: There will be two Foundation dentists (FDs) in the practice and this allows learning experiences to be shared. Having three trainers in the practice split over two FDs allows good multi source feedback and our current FDs have stated that they are “never short of help.”
