The Educational Supervisors: Kanwar qualified in 1999 from Liverpool Dental School and returned to Birmingham to do his FD year. He opened his first practice in 2005 and took over LHDP Smilecare in 2015. Kanwar has been an Educational Supervisor since 2006 and has trained many dentists in his time. He was also a clinical lecturer at Birmingham Dental School for over ten years.  Kanwar has held posts such at the Central Counties Branch British Dental Association President and sits on various committees. Education has always been big part of Kanwar's career and he is very much looking forward to being a joint trainer with Aakash. He also teaches on the FD circuit at various FD schemes.

Aakash  tells his story.....I joined BDP as an FD in 2008 and am proud to be part of this continually growing practice. Working with a great supportive team has helped me progress in my career and would provide an incoming FD with such a great platform to build upon. Providing a high standard of care to our patients is what has made this practice evolve even further and I have always aimed to continually improve upon my skills. I have further training in Restorative and Implant Prosthodontics and am aiming to compete diplomas in both of these specialities this year. Being able to provide and encourage evidence based dentistry will show any incoming FD the importance of how we plan and treat our patients to the best level possible.

The Practice:  BDP first  opened in 2005. Initially there was one surgery, one nurse and one receptionist, operating five and a half days a week from eight until eight building a list and servicing the community's dental health needs.  Today we have a loyal following that recommends others to come and see us - True word of mouth advertising!

BDP became approved as a  training practice in 2006 just one year after it opened.  We believe that the enjoyment and love that we have for dentistry is passed fully on to our FDs. BDP is fully computerized with a  digital x-rays system, 3 independent surgeries, 4 dentists and a therapist / hygienist as well as a great support team of nurses and a practice manager.

Together we are an amazing team, our interests in dentistry are varied but our desire is always to produce the best treatment and care for our patients so if you're prepared to work hard, be a team player, listen and learn this is the practice for you.

The Area: The area is urban, on a main trunk road in and out of Wolverhampton.  The main  Bilston high street is a mile away and the practice is situated in a mainly residential but busy location. The M6 Junction 10 is nearby making traveling in and out by road very easy and there are tram and bus routes very amenable to us. New private homes are being built in our location attracting yet more patients to our already large patient base

We work on word of mouth and a vast number of the local population are serviced for their dental health by us at Bilston Dental Practice.

Other Points of Interest: We are a great team, we play hard but also work hard, we have qualified nurses who are experienced in looking after FDs. Our practice manager used to be Kanwar's nurse in 1999 when he was an FD!

Aakash is continually striving to gain further qualifications and is currently on a training programme in implant and prosthdontics whilst Kanwar is providing Invisalign orthodontics whilst studying on a postgraduate restorative diploma.

Education and fun  go hand in hand at this family orientated dental practice! The practice is based on reputation and it also has a long standing history with the deanery and in dental foundation training.
