The Educational Supervisors: Martin Whelan qualified in 1995 from the University of Pretoria and completed a 2 year post graduate diploma in lmplantology from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012. Martin enjoys all areas of dentistry especially Surgery, Endodontics, Paedodontics, Cosmetic Aesthetics and treatment for Nervous Patients.
He has a passion for teaching and dentistry and has an open door policy with regards to Foundation students during their training year. He is extremely friendly, approachable and knowledgeable and most areas of dentistry. He has five years of dental foundation training experience which comes in handy when especially with the E-portfolio.
Michael Taylor was Martin Whelan's first Foundation Dentist in 2011 and has stayed at Greenleaves Dental Practice part time ever since .Michael has an incredible drive and passion for dentistry
and has excelled in many areas since including orthodontics .He is extremely knowledgeable in many areas of dentistry. He is very friendly and has a passion for teaching completing his PG cert and MJDF very soon after qualifying. Having gone through the process himself provides valuable support and experience to newly qualified dentists going through their foundation year.
The Practice: We have a friendly family practice offering all areas of dentistry to our patients. All our newly refurbished air conditioned surgeries are fully computerised using R4 Clinical+ and are all equipped with digital xrays, intra-oral cameras, fibreoptics, electric motors for Endodontic procedures using rotary instruments and fibre optic Satelec Ultrasonic Scalers. We have TVs on the ceilings and massage dental chairs for the comfort of our patients. We are very fortunate to have a Cerec and milling machine and furnace offering same day crowns and other porcelain restorations to all our patients. We have a CT scanner ( full arch or cone beam scan) and OPG imaging suite offering state of the art x-ray imagery to all our patients. A Wand anaesthetic unit is available as well as conscious sedation for our more anxious patients. We have a lovely garden area where our staff relax during lunch hours on sunny days. We are very privileged to work with wonderful, well trained, loyal and self motivated staff who function as an amazing team.We treat a wide range of patients of all ages, cultures and socio-econonomic backgrounds offering a mix of NHS and Private Services.
The Area: Potters Bar has a varied community including people from different socio-economic, ethnicities and religious backgrounds. There are a number of different shops including restaurants, large supermarkets and beauty salons.
The area is extremely picturesque with large parks and canals in the immediate vicinity to the practice. The area is fortunate to have excellent transport facilities with the main bus terminal situated next to the practice and a large over ground rail hub taking you directly into Kings Cross in around 15 min. Free parking is dotted all around the practice with paid parking facilities also available directly opposite the practice. We are very fortunate to have a large GP practice and pharmacy opposite our practice which comes in handy on occasion.
Other Points of Interest: We are an extremely well led practice with highly motivated and enthusiastic staff ( our recent CQC inspection also testifies to this ) with a full time practice manager. We offer all types of services to all our patients including NHS patients. We are extremely well placed to accommodate an incoming Foundation Dentist with a long list of NHS patients as our books are extremely busy. All our staff including the dentists are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. We have a fantastic friendly atmosphere at our practice with excellent 5 star reviews.
