The Educational Supervisor: Glen Taylor is a dedicated professional, fully committed to providing high quality dental care. Glen qualified from Kings College London in 2000, and completed DF1 in the Bedford area.  He had practiced in general practice since qualification and was awarded Dentistry magazines "Best Young Dentist " for the South East region in 2010. He is passionate about lifelong learning. Glen has gained a PgDip in Restorative Dental Practice from Eastman CPD, a PgCert in Advanced General Dental Practice from King's College London, Certificate in Sports Dentistry from Eastman CPD and PgDip in Medical Education from the University of Bedfordshire. His enthusiasm about postgraduate education has allowed him to pass on the new skills he has learned and advice to his FD's, ensuring they receive competent support and guidance. Glen is an experienced accredited FD educational supervisor and has devoted vast amounts of time and resources into development of his FD's to help ensure they have the best possible start to their career. Glen will always have an open door to offer support, guidance, and help when required.  Glen joined the CDS team in February 2016 and is developing new skills for the care of children and patients with special and additional care needs, and has relished a new change from general practice.   Glen is a caring, outgoing individual, who enjoys socialising with the team, cooking for friends, and taking in a good movie or show.  Glen is currently completing the restoration of his 1976 Daimler Vanden Plas 4.2 Series II.

The Practice: The Dental Care Centre is an exceptionally spacious self-contained clinic and has eight modern surgeries which have a range of chairs - knee break, bariatric and left/right-handed units. There is also a wheelchair recliner and two endodontic microscopes. There’s a separate x-ray room with intra-oral and OPG/Ceph machine and a decontamination room. Each surgery has facilities for inhalation sedation and several of the dentists also provide treatment under IV sedation.

The Area: Bedford was founded at a ford on the River Great Ouse which passes through the town centre and is lined with gardens known as the Embankment, Bedford is thought to have been the burial place of the Anglo- Saxon King Offa of Mercia who died in 796. Bedford Castle was built by Henry I, although it was destroyed in 1224. Bedford Park is the town's largest urban park and is located directly to the north of the town centre. The park retains many original features from its Victorian design and construction, including a cricket pavilion and bandstand which are both still in use. Priory country park is a large country park located on the northern bank of the River Great Ouse in eastern Bedford. Both parks have been awarded Green Flag status. Bedford hosts the annual Bedford international Kite festival in June, and bi annual River festival in July. Just outside the town lie the Cardington airship hangers. It was famous for being an airship station and is famous for construction of the infamous R101. The crash of R101 effectively ended British airship development, and was one of the worst airship accidents of the 1930s. The hangars have been used to shoot scenes for movies such as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Inception. They have now been restored, and are the home of the longest aircraft in the world the 92 meter AirLander 10. Bedford is located close to Milton Keynes, great for shopping, and socialising. It has several cinemas including an IMAX, a ski centre, and a sky diving centre. Willen Lake is on of Milton Keynes’ most popular parks.  Over one million visitors a year take part in watersports activities, go cycling, enjoy the playground, try the high ropes course or simply picnic along Willen’s shores.  It’s a great place to entertain all ages of family and friends, you could try a beginners’ course in sailing or hiring a pedalo or bike. The forest of Marston Vale and the Millennium Country Park are a short driving distance. With 225 hectares of woodlands, wetlands and grasslands, surrounding our meadow and and lakes, and have over 17km of surfaced paths to make exploring easy.
