Here is what one of our doctors had to say about his initial months in East of England:-
I arrived in the UK in the September of 2020, in the middle of Covid Pandemic. I made a list of things which I completed in my initial months which allowed a smooth transition, they are as follows:-
1.Obtain BRP from post office
2.Obtain Address Proof – rent agreement
3.Open a bank account
4.Register with a GP
5.Register to Vote (selected open register)
6.Get Indemnity Insurance
7.Made HMRC tax account online
8.Applied for driving license
I researched online and read government websites for advice and understood the nature of the processes here which were quite different from what I was used to. I would highly recommend all new IMGs to develop a habit of researching online and ask colleagues or friends no matter how small the doubt or question is. A simple google search of the terms mentioned above will get you started. All the best!

Most hospitals have a spiritual team and meditation areas as well as different community groups. Local communities often have places of worship catering for all faiths and specialist shops to help you find food or items from across the world.
