Why Choose Basildon?

Formed in 1948 after World War II as a 'new town', Basildon now has a population of nearly 170,000. Local amenities include the Towngate Theatre and the Festival Leisure Park with cinemas, clubs, restaurants and bowling (the third largest nightclub complex in the UK!). There are plenty of green spaces within and around the town and transport links to Central London are excellent (only 25 miles away).  You can drive via road, on the A127 and A13 to reach London, as well as taking the very reliable C2C 35 minute train service to London Fenchurch Street.  If you fancy a seaside getaway, hop on the C2C to Southend-on-Sea and visit Southend Pier, the longest pleasure pier in the World!

Why work at Basildon Hospital?

Basildon University Hospital is a major teaching hospital with plenty of opportunities to further develop your skills and knowledge.  It serves a population of approximately 405,000 and also provides specialist tertiary cardiothoracic and PCI care to the county of Essex and beyond via The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre.  Basildon trainees highly rate the learning and opportunities available to them at this nurturing teaching hospital.
