Thank you for considering West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust for your Foundation Training. We are based just north of London and inside the M25 with good public transport routes in and out of the city.

As educators we believe every job is what you make it! We know that learning opportunities abound at this extremely busy hospital and we hope you will participate in making every moment and every interaction count. We assert Sir John Temple’s saying “Training is patient safety for the next thirty years” and as such we will try to give you the best possible learning environment.

We encourage your active engagement and participation as we value the Trainee Voice and there will be opportunities to meet regularly with Senior Clinicians and Executive Team members.

We would welcome your participation in our Undergraduate Teaching programme and there will be opportunities to make significant contributions throughout the year, culminating in our Education and Patient Safety Innovation awards in June of each year.

We will use our simulation centre to help you to improve your skills in managing a crisis situation including; identifying clear roles, communicating effectively with patients, peers and co-workers, productive and collaborative team working, exploring available resources, and maintaining appropriate overview of situations.

Your F1 year will start with our PfPP induction programme, which will give you ample chances to shadow your new tea
