Another study day of the Health Education England - East of England regional study progamme took place in July 2017. Staff from all grades and OMFS units in the region met for the annual Junior Papers Day at the fantastic venue The British Racing School in Newmarket, Suffolk.
All the dental core trainees in the region had the opportunity to submit a Case Presentation, Research Study or Audit. There was a very good response and an interesting and varied range of oral and poster presentations were shortlisted for presentation on the day.
The trainees demonstrated clinical knowledge and confidence presenting their cases about e.g. submental intubation, surgical management of impacted upper second molars, silent sinus syndrome, quality of TMJ referrals, a review of odontogenic keratocysts. Further topics covered in the poster presentations included e.g. a case of sclerosing mucoepidermoid carcinoma, necrotising fasciitis, posterior tongue tie, multidisciplinary management of giant cell arteritis.
Dr Christine Goodall, Vice Dean, Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow gave an introduction about the work of the College and recommendations regarding training/career pathways before presenting the prize certificates and vouchers.
