The Educational SUpervisor: Kanesh Mashru qualified in Sheffield in 1993, completed his 'Vocational Training' year and then moved to Peterborough. He became a partner in an established practice in 1997, before growing the business to nine practices and has recently been integrated with the 'mydentist' group. He has been a trainer since 1999, completed his MFGDP in 2000, completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Education in 2010, a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Law and Ethics in 2015 and is currently studying towards a Restorative Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons.

Kanesh is extremely committed to the 'Foundation Dentist Scheme' in which he has actively been involved for the last 16 years.

The Practice:  The practice is located within walking distance of Peterborough City Centre and Peterborough railway station.  The building has been a dental practice since 1923, a training practice since 1999 and has very recently been fully refurbished. It has 3 well equipped surgeries, fully computerised with digital radiographs (both intra-oral and panoral) as well as a separate decontamination room. The clinical team consists of four other dentists, a hygienist and qualified and experienced nurses, as well as support staff that are happy to assist in administrative duties. There are local specialists and dental laboratories that support the practice.

We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, caring and supportive environment, where the FD can carry out a full range of treatment on a wide variety of patients. The whole team is familiar and respectful of the concerns and requirements of a Foundation Dentist and committed to providing a comfortable and educational environment.

The Area: Peterborough city centre is a 5 minute walk from the surgery and offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, bars and sporting facilities. There is good local accommodation and most of our previous FDs have lived within walking distance of the practice. There is also good public transport, excellent rail links (45 minutes to London) and the city is very close to the A1. The practice is happy to assist an incoming FD with finding accommodation and to give advice on local areas. The city hospital is about 2 miles from the practice and is the base for the Foundation Dentist Scheme as well as other postgraduate courses.

Other Points of Interest: Three of the current dentists have been FDs within the practice and over the last 16 years the practice has developed into an environment that is dedicated to learning. We believe that this enhances the patient care that we can provide and in addition improves the knowledge and motivation of our dentists. An incoming FD would be able to gain experience from each of the dentists, all of whom are friendly and happy to assist if asked.
