HEE-EoE Local Appointment Process

Health Education England working across the East of England local appointment to training practices will take place in March 2017,  and includes an opportunity for applicants to meet and rank all of the Training practices of the EoE Scheme in which they have been offered a place. All those allocated to East of England Training Schemes will be reminded of the date and venue via email following their allocation and any further joining instructions will be sent at that time.

Each of the seven Schemes in HEE EoE will be holding a Local Appointment Event (LAE) on Thursday 23rd March 2017. The LAEs are an opportunity to meet all the Trainers of the Scheme's training practices. The process will give everyone the opportunity to have a structured conversation with the Trainer and practice staff members. At the end of this process all individuals will be asked to rank their choices of practice. All the Trainers will be asked to give their ranking of the applicants. A best fit matching system will then be used for final allocation, which gives equal waiting to Trainer and Trainee preferences. The LAE will be monitored to ensure consistency.

A list of the training practices for each of the Schemes will appear on the HEE EoE website on Monday 20th March 2017. It will NOT be possible to visit any of the practices before the Local Appointment Event, but full details of the practices and the Educational Supervisors will be available on the website. The Educational Supervisors will be sent a list of those appointed to their Scheme on Monday 20th March 2017. All FDs allocated to the Schemes will also have been asked to complete a short CV pro-forma that will be sent to the Educational Supervisors so that they have knowledge about the FDs and their experiences before the Local Appointment Event takes place. The forms are standard thus giving everyone an equal opportunity.

Arrival at each LAE is at 9.15am and this will allow time for registration, checking of identity and clarification of the processes for the day. The main room for the event will be set up with twelve stations for Educational Supervisors. The Educational Supervisors will be seated at their station together with one other member of their practice. Joint Trainers will be seated together.  At 10.00 you will start your first Structured Conversation with one of the Educational Supervisors.  The Educational Supervisors will have further information about their practice and will be pleased to discuss this as well as clarifying information given in the CV. The second member of the practice may well be the current FD or the Practice Manager. The Conversation is an exchange of information and views, but needs to be recorded so that reasoned choice can be used in the ranking process. At the end of twenty minutes the Conversation will be brought to a close and there will be five minutes to write notes about the interaction before beginning the next Conversation. This process will continue during the day with breaks for refreshments, mid-session and for lunch.

When all of the Educational Supervisors have met all of the FDs everyone will be asked to complete a ranking form of their choices. Once choices have been made and passed to the HEE EoE staff, you will be free to leave the event. The closing time is scheduled to be 16.15.

A software matching system will be used to allocate the best matched choices from the rankings and the results of the appointments will be forwarded to everyone after the event.
