The Educational Supervisors: Julia Hallam-Seagrave: I qualified in Birmingham in 2000. I stayed as a GDP in my FD practice until 2006. During that time I undertook postgraduate training in Orthodontics.In 2006 I was appointed as a Senior Dental Officer. In 2008 I was made cCinical Lead for the service. I am a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry and passed the Diploma in Special Care Dentistry at The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011. In 2014 I was awarded a Masters in Medical Education.
Lydia Forbes: After qualifying in Leeds in 2005 I completed my VT year in North Yorkshire. During 2006-2007 I went on to spend a year as an SHO. I gained my MFDS RCS Eng in 2008. From there I worked in both general practice as an associate and as a Senior Dental Officer Yorkshire for a couple of years before relocating and taking up a temporary post as a Senior Dental Officer for CCS After starting a family in 2011 I worked general practice before taking permanent role in the salaried service.I have worked in Special Care Dentist
The Practice: The practice provides a number of services including special care, urgent care and minor oral surgery to a diverse population. We have 6 fully equipped surgeries with the ability to be both right and left handed. There is digital intraoral OPG radiography facilities as well as a wheel chair tipper, bariatric chair and electronic records. The waiting room is has a quiet area and sensory room. The team facilities are bright, airy and well equipped. We have 7 dentists, most of whom are part time and a dental therapist. The FD will be providing routine care to the general population with the ability to carry out some special care dentistry if they wish.
The Area: Peterborough is a vibrant, multicutlural city which is 50 minutes from London by train. It as a splendid cathedral, good shops, busy nightlife as well as tranquil parks and a river running through.
Points of Interest The Dental Access Centre was named British Dental Association Good Practice Scheme Practice of the Year 2009. In 2006-2007, the FD won a regional prize for her achievements and in 2017 the FD won a postgraduate prize in restorative dentistry. As an NHS Trust there are many benefits for networking and working with specialists in hospital settings.
