The Educational Supervisor: Tony Clough is the Clinical Director of Sharrow Dental Care, Advent and Springfield Dental Care; under his guidance the group has grown and developed into the largest and most influential oral health service provider in Essex, operating across three sites in Chelmsford.
Tony served for 24 years as a Postgraduate dental tutor, while combining this role with teaching at the Royal London Hospital dental school, the University of Essex and coordinating the Diploma in Sports Dentistry course at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London. He also continues as the elected representative of the 1500 dentists in Essex.
Tony has a particular interest in the field of dental traumatology and through his affiliation with sports teams and athletes, he has garnered a wealth of experience over the years in managing dental trauma in the immediate aftermath, through to rehabilitation and long-term follow-up.
Anthony Barrett graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2007. After graduating he joined Sharrow Dental as a vocational trainee and has been a key member of the team here ever since.
He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and believes strongly in furthering himself through post graduate education. He has done this through gaining qualifications such as Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties and a postgraduate certificate in dental education which he plans to use by taking in foundation dentists to help them learn the ropes here at Sharrow Dental.
The Practice: Sharrow Dental Surgery have been serving the local community in the Chelmsford area since 1964 and have been under current management since 1982. Our professional and friendly team are dedicated to delivering high quality dental care and driven by a desire to achieve clinical excellence with every visit.
We have eight surgeries, dedicated decontamination/sterilisation room, X-Ray room including CBCT scanner, 3 intra-oral units, 2 digital intra oral scanners (Trios), staff room/office, downstairs and upstairs waiting room, and reception area. We have a team of over 30 staff including five hygienists and 10 PCD's who all offer a wide variety of dental treatments ranging from NHS routine care to implants, orthodontics, conscious sedation, and periodontal care. We are also proud to be part of the Dental East Trauma Service.
The Area: Chelmsford is a City in the County of Essex, England. It is located 30 miles North East of London and 22 miles South West of Colchester. Chelmsford offers many places of interests including Hylands House and the Chelmsford Museum. The Town Centre is only a 10 minute walk from our Practice and offers a variety of high street shops, bars, restaurants and gyms.
Other Points of Interest: The practice has been a training practice for hygienists, therapists and FDs for 30 years.
We currently have 5 hygienists and a therapist on the staff and want to increase therapy in the practice, trainees may have opportunities to stay at the end of the year. Chelmsford is a busy city in Essex with nice residential areas , the practice is in a nice area 10 mins from the centre and amongst lots of rental properties.
We look after the GB Boxing team and GB Ice Hockey and are the main Dental Trauma Center in Essex. The dentists have special interests in ortho, perio, implants and all areas of cosmetic dentistry including Botox and fillers. This will give so many areas of mentoring should you wish to persue other interests.
