The Educational Supervisors: Madeleine Qualified in 2013 from Birmingham Dental Hospital. After completing her FD year at LHDP Smilecare she stayed with the practice and developed her skills further seeing NHS, Private and Denplan patients. Madeleine has a keen interest in restorative dentistry and completed the Advanced Restorative Course at the Aspire Dental Academy in London. Over the past 6 years Madeleine has built a good relationship with her patients and strives for excellent patient care, she was BDA secretary for Hereford and Worcester Section, completed her MJDF qualification and is Invisalign trained. Madeleine now relishes the opportunity to teach and pass on her enthusiasm for dentistry.

Kanwar qualified in 1999 from the Liverpool Dental School and returned to Birmingham to do his FD year. He opened his first practice in 2005 and took over LHDP Smilecare in 2015. Kanwar has been an Educational Supervisor since 2006 and has trained many dentists in his time. He was also a clinical lecturer at Birmingham Dental School for over ten years. Kanwar has held positions such as the Central Counties Branch British Dental Association President and sits on various committees. Education has always been big part of Kanwar's career and he is very much looking forward to being a joint trainer with Madeleine. Kanwar also teaches on the FD circuit at various FD schemes.

 

The Practice: Established in 1993 by the renowned Graham Stokes in a converted character property. Kanwar Ratra took over the practice in 2015 with Graham Stokes remaining as the clinical lead with Kanwar. There are 5 surgeries over 2 floors, with a fully equipped seminar room. The patient lounge overlooks a beautiful garden and there is a separate children's playroom. The practice boasts fully qualified nurses some who have worked at the practice for 20 years with various extra qualifications including radiography, implant and sedation. LHDP is fully computerised, with digital radiographs, SOE software, an OPG machine and digital clinipads for up to date medical histories and patient details aiming to be as paperless as possible.

The practice is also a referral centre providing Implants, prosthodontics,  endodontics, Invisalign and IV sedation. The practice also has 2 hygienists and a hygienist therapist.

The Area: Bromsgrove is a town in Worcestershire, England about 16 miles north-east of Worcester and 13 miles south-west of Birmingham city centre. The practice is in the heart of Bromsgrove set just behind the High street with a plethora of shops and cafes. Bromsgrove is a leafy commuter town with excellent transport links by road as well as rail.
Motorway links close to the m42 and m5 allow quick and easy commutes from Birmingham and other nearby locations.

Bromsgrove is a fluoridated area, alongside being an area with low deprivation  and Bromsgrove has a low DMFT score.

  • Graham Stokes- Clinical lead along with Kanwar. Graham is our implantologist accepting referrals from other dental practices. He also provides complex restorative treatments and prosthetics on a referral basis. Graham teaches on various courses and schemes across the country. He was also a ES for  a number of years and a TPD for Worcestershire.
  • Giles Round- Provides root canal therapy at the practice and also accepts referral patients for such treatments. Giles is a previous ES. He also teaches endodontic treatment for the FD scheme and various other courses nationwide.
  • Harriet Moss- Provides IV sedation for anxious patients. Harriet is also a previous ES. She teaches sedation and performs this at the Birmingham Dental Hospital for anxious patients and patients with special needs.
