HEE Midlands and East
The Educational Supervisor: I have been an ES since 2015 at White Pearl Dental Practice and also have been a trainer at another practice for 4 years. I am interested in all aspects of dentistry and am keen to pass on my experience and knowledge. My interests lie in implant dentistry and short term orthodontics. I have a clinical microscope as I also enjoy Endodontics and have previously worked in an Endodontic private referral practice. I also carry out a significant amount of tooth whitening procedures which include the laser Phillips Zoom and also the boutique home whitening.
I have taught at the dental school in Birmingham for 4 years as an under graduate part time clinical lecturer in Restorative dentistry. I am also an examiner for the MFDS examination for the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and examine for the ORE and LDS examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons England.
I am very approachable and friendly and have an easy and relaxed approached to foundation dental training. All my previous FD's have managed to gain a vast amount of experience and training to a very high level and have managed to achieve all their complex treatments targets. I run regular tutorials and also have an open door policy towards my FD.
I take my role as a mentor and a clinical guide seriously and am always happy to help as and when it is appropriate and when asked.
The Practice: The Practice is a lovely environment for a new dentist to work in. It is a part of a building that has been a dental practice for the last 60 years and owned by myself for the last 4 years. We are on the upper level of a 2 story building and downstairs is occupied by Boots the Opticians. As the foundation dental surgery is very newly refurbished the vibrant colors add to the relaxing ambience of the surgery. Fully supported by the Educational supervisor and the practice manager. A fully qualified nurse is also available to work alongside the foundation dentist. The foundation dentist will find the practice friendly and welcoming. A wide range of patients and treatments are accessible to the FD and patients who require a vast spectrum of treatments. We like to pride ourselves in the fact that as our foundation dentist you will be treating a wide variety of patients require a wide variety of treatments and gaining invaluable experience in a professional and ethical environment.
We employ qualified staff alongside with training dental nurse enrolled at college providing training. we also have a qualified dental hygienist who comes to the practice 1 day a week to carry out treatment on prescription on a private basis.
The Area: The practice is on the busy main Coventry road on A45. easy to get to from Coventry and Birmingham. Plenty of on street parking. The area is accessible easily from Solihull only 17 minutes away and central Birmingham approximately 30 minutes away in peak traffic. We have always had FD's who have lived in central Birmingham and have driven or got the bus with great ease. The bus stop being directly opposite the practice front door. The Birmingham NEC and the airport and railway station are very local to us at a 10 minute journey away.
