Mr Ransom had been a trainer for 25 years and has a keen interest in postgraduate education, achieving the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical and Health Care Education in 2008, and an MSc in 2012.  He has been involved in local dental politics for many years and has undertaken many audits and peer reviews.

Outside dentistry his interests include art, music, cookery, architecture, photography, cricket, and trying to get something to grow in his garden.

Outside dentistry her interests include keeping fit by attending the gym regularly and pole fitness classes! She enjoys dining out with friends and enjoys good wine too. She also is green fingered and has quite a good track record with things growing in her garden. In the summer months she tries to attend at least one music festival and beer festival!#

The Practice: The practice is in a residential area, close to the town centre, with a large catchment area which covers a wide range of people, from local council estates and the new Anglia Ruskin University, to commuters and professionals. The practice has been established and developed over many years as a "family practice", and is well known and respected.

There are four surgeries, three for dental surgeons, and one for an hygienist.  The FD's surgery has just been completely refurbished as part of the continual updating of the practice equipment.  The practice is computerised using the R4 system, with associated digital x-ray equipment.

We undertake to maintain a high standard of patient care and cover the whole range of treatments, referring for orthodontics, sedation and GA. The long serving staff are loyal and pleasant, trained, and appropriately qualified.  They participate fully in the running of the practice, and are experienced in helping new FDs adapt to life in practice.

The practice is easily reached from the A12, M25, and M11. A small amount of on site parking is available, there is some on-street parking, and there are several public car parks close to the practice. It is an easy walk to the railway and bus stations, and there are frequent connections to London Liverpool Street, the tube, DLR, etc.

The Area:  Chelmsford is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and, for reasons best known to Uinvue.com, has been voted the happiest place to live in the country.  A major new development of 3500 houses shops, schools, and a new station has recently been given the go ahead so demand in the area is set to increase further. The practice is 10 minutes walk from the city centre. The local facilities available range from corner shops to shopping arcades, nightclubs to concerts, wine bars to country pubs. Chelmsford has several good gyms, there is sailing on the Blackwater, and golf clubs abound.  The Essex County Cricket Club is based in the city.

The regional shopping centres at Lakeside and Bluewater are only a short drive away. If you don't like that, London is 30 minutes away by train, 50 minutes by car.  Stansted is 40 minutes away, from where previous FDs have enjoyed the shopping facilities of Paris, New York, and Dubai.

Other Points of Interest: The experienced and qualified staff work in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.  There is a ready exchange of knowledge and views, and a good social interaction within and outside the practice.

There are good links with other practices allowing visits and experience to specialists, e.g. oral surgeons, implantologists, periodontists, and orthodontists.  The political side of dentistry can be sampled by attending Local Dental Committee meetings and BDA meetings.  A wide range of CPD courses can be attended at local centres.
