PPE Guidance
Need to talk
  • NHS national staff helpline, operated by the Samaritans and free to access from 7am - 11pm, 7 days a week. Call 0800 069 6222 or text FRONTLINE to 85258 for support 24/7.
  • Bereavement support line, operated by Hospice UK and free to access 8am - 8pm, 7 days a week. Call 0300 303 4434. A team of full qualified and trained bereavement specialists are available with bereavement and well-being issues relating to loss experienced through work.   • BMA wellbeing support services are open 24/7 to all doctors and medical students. You will have the choice of speaking to a counsellor, or taking the details of a doctor who you can contact for peer support.  Please click here to view the BMA Well-being Services poster and information on how to access this support.
  • NHS Practitioner Health operates a self-referral system. It offers free, confidential NHS service for doctors and dentists across England with mental illness and addiction problems.

Well-being apps and tools

  • NHS staff have been given free access to a number of wellbeing apps to support with their mental health and wellbeing. Select NHS England link to access the most up-to-date list NHS England Well-being apps.  These include: Headspace, Unmind, Sleepio
  • Better Health – Healthy changes start with little changes - Better Health is here with lots of free tools and support
  • Live Well – Advice, tips and tools to help you make the best choice about your health and wellbeing 
  • Place2Be - support, arts and craft resources for keyworker parents and carers. Download free wellbeing guides
  • 'Mind' have pulled together some resources to help you look after yourself during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Intensive Support
  • Clinically led 1:1 support and coaching through Project 5 : provides, independent and confidential solution and wellbeing support, up to 3 sessions when you need them.
  • Bespoke coaching support offer for Black, Asian and Minority ethnic colleagues

  • NHS Leadership Academy coaching and mentoring programme:

  • Up to 8 counselling sessions with Association of Christian Counsellors - flexible appointment times by video or telephone: inclusive service, welcoming and open to people of all religions, cultures, ethnicities, sexualities, gender and gender expressions, age, disabilities, etc.

  • Coaching for colleagues working in Primary care:

    #LookingAfterYouToo  Available to all staff working in the delivery of primary care services. You will be either employed by the NHS or working with an NHS funded employer delivering an NHS funded primary care contract.

    #LookingAfterYourTeam: Available to staff working in the delivery of frontline primary care services who lead, manage or organises a team, group, service or network. You will be either employed by the NHS or working with an NHS funded employer delivering an NHS funded primary care contract.

     
Crisis Intervention
Staff mental health and wellbeing hubs provides confidential and rapid access to local evidence-based mental health support. Hubs offer clinical assessment and triage to support/treatment.

Podcasts and Webinars
  • NHS Professionals and Doctors Direct have organised weekly lectures to support doctors during the pandemic and opportunities to register for upcoming webinars
  • You are Not a Frog podcast/Youtube channel. Follow this link to the podcast and the YouTube channel - for GPs, hospital doctors and other professionals in high-stakes, high-stress jobs who want to thrive rather than just survive.
  • The Dentalpreneur Podcast w/ Dr. Mark Costes : The goal of this podcast is to assemble the greatest minds of the dental profession and to pass on their most valuable and succinct lessons, in order to help you to achieve your full potential in practice and in life.
