The Educational Supervisors: Fatimah Jawaid - Graduated from The University of Birmingham with Distinction in Clinical Dentistry in 2012 and has been involved with the practice since then. She has also worked at the Royal London Hospital as a Restorative Senior House Officer within this time. She is currently in her final year of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics MSc at Kings College London and has a keen interest in undertaking complex tooth wear cases and rehabilitation cases. She was also the MJDF tutor for the FGDP West Midlands division. She has completed a Postgraduate certificate in Dental Education. Outside of dentistry, Fatimah enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Abhijit Pal - Principal of the practice since 1991. He has extensive experience in Restorative and Implant Dentistry. In addition to being a practitioner, he is a Clinical Teaching Fellow at Warwick University. He also provides Independent Expert Witness reports in dento-legal matters for lawyers, regulatory bodies and defence organisations. He has been awarded the FFGDP(UK) diploma by the Royal College of Surgeons — a significant quality indicator in general practice. He is an elected National Board Member for the FGDP(UK) and is involved in developing quality standards in dentistry. Outside of dentistry, he is a keen cyclist!

The Practice: We are situated in a purpose made, state of the art primary health care facility on Pritchatts Road, Edgbaston alongside a general medical practice and physiotherapy services. We are based on the first floor and a lift is provided. There are four spacious dedicated treatment rooms, a staff room and an office for staff members to use. The staff at the practice are all long-standing members, many of whom have been there for over 20 years!

The foundation dentist has a modern up-to-date surgery room with assistance from a qualified supportive dental nurse, who has been working for over 25 years.

The Area: We are only a short walk away from the main University of Birmingham campus, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King Edwards Schools and Harborne High Street.  We are easily reachable by car, bus or train. Car parking is available on site and we are approximately a 10 minute walk from University Train Station

Other Points of Interest: Both Educational Supervisors have been heavily involved with dental foundation training for some years and take a keen interest in continual education and development. The practice possesses a great learning opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic and eager to learn and develop a variety of skills. There are opportunities to assist in implant surgery, undertake surgical extractions, and perform complex endodontic treatments using rotary equipment.
