Giving and Receiving Feedback Effectively

Speaker: Susan Edwards

After a clinical break, our skills, confidence, and competence can feel different. As you re-build and integrate back into your clinical practice you may find this session particularly useful to attend.

No matter what stage you are at in your career, feedback will have been integral part to your education, training, and professional working lives. One of the interesting features of feedback is that there really is an art form to this, but you may not have necessarily had an opportunity to take stock and reflect on how you do this both from the perspective of giving feedback but also how you act on feedback that is given to you.

By the end of this webinar you will know:

  • Your feedback style and the impact this has on others
  • Effective ways of providing and receiving feedback in the context of your work
  • Using positive re-framing, feed forward and SBI to build confidence and create structure.
Developing Emotional Intelligence

Facilitator: Psysoft

Emotional intelligence in healthcare

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, and those of the people around you. Clinicians with a high degree of emotional intelligence know what they are feeling, what their emotions mean, and how these emotions can affect other people. This session provides a fantastic opportunity to think about your EI and how this can strengthen your knowledge and development of self and positively impact you in your roles.

By the end of this webinar you will learn:

  • What the five key elements of EI are and the benefits that this can bring to your work
  • From a cultural perspective, we'll consider the impact of culture and EI in relation to healthcare.
  • How to apply this knowledge to create and support an emotionally intelligent working environment.

Time Smart

Speaker: Susan Edwards

All of us would like to manage our time better and there are ways that you can do this. It can be harder when we are returning to work after a break. Systems, processes and people will no doubt have changed and of course you will have altered your thinking and approach to work as a result of your break. Your working patterns may have changed because you - work less than full time or you may need to leave at a set time due to other commitments.

This session really gets you to think about what you can do to take control of how you work to be more effective. By identifying some less useful habits and the thought-processes behind them, we’ll create strategies and approaches for changing your behaviour and approach to time.

By the end of this webinar you will:

  • Identify the challenges you experience in managing your time
  • Discuss the thought patterns and emotional reactions that can make time management tricky
  • Learn strategies for prioritising tasks and activities on a daily, weekly, and longer-term basis
  • Focus on your personal priorities to improve your working practice.
