Global Health Fellowship OOPE

The School of Emergency Medicine is pleased to offer Out of Programme Experience for EM trainees in conjunction with Global Health Fellowships and Africa Health Placements. This is an exciting opportunity to have a year in a rural hospital in South Africa between ST3 and ST4 to complement UK based EM training as well as provide rewarding personal challenge. The placements are paid for by the government of South Africa and you will be supported both prior to and during the year.

There are 4 posts available per year and applications are invited from current ST2s for placement starting August 2018 and current ST1s for August 2019 start. Closing date is 12th November 2016 and interviews will be held in Victoria House, Cambridge on 1st December 2016.

For those who successfully complete the placements there is an opportunity to be deployed in a level 1 Foreign Medical Team as part of the UK Response to International Humanitarian Disaster (see Blue Book below and link to WHO).
