Specialty Programme Reviews

Specialty Programme Reviews

In 2014, HEEoE introduced the concept of specialty programme reviews as an additional Quality Management Improvement and Management exercise to supplement existing tools, following consultation through our Heads of School forum. Such reviews may be convened to address a variety of issues within the programme including adverse GMC Training Survey outcomes, significant changes to the Clinical Learning Environment, the pattern of Service Delivery, or changes in Specialty Training post numbers. There is a consistent format to the delivery of these reviews including engagement with the relevant Royal College or Faculty, Senior Educators in the relevant specialty, trainees, service providers and Patient and Public Voice Partners (lay representatives).

To date the specialties reviewed and the findings implemented have been Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology (ENT). Plastic Surgery is currently under review.
