CAMH Special Interest

 

As a CAMHS trainee you will be entitled to one day per week for special interest/research opportunities. On that day you could decide what knowledge and experience you would like to gain in order to develop as a highly qualified professional. Discuss it with your educational supervisor and check with your trust for different opportunities  

The options may vary depending on the area, but the opportunities are endless if you are willing to travel.

Here are just a few ideas:

  • CASUS – Cambridgeshire child and adolescent substance use service – the team is based in Cambridge and Huntingdon
  • CAMEO – Early Intervention of Psychosis Team – The South Team is based in Cambridge - The North Team is based in Peterborough
  • Youth Offending Service (YOS) – different teams depending on the area
  • Multi-systemic therapy team (MST) Cambridgeshire is based in Huntingdon
  • Forensic adolescent mental health at Clare Lodge – Secure Children’s Home in Peterborough 
  • Intensive Support Team (Crisis team for children and adolescents) – in every area
  • Inpatient and outpatient eating disorders services
  • Liaison in child psychiatry at Addenbrooke’s hospital
  • Paediatric experience/paediatric liaison
  • Neuropsychiatry
  • Infant Mental Health
  • Medical Education
  • Psychotherapy
  • Management and Leadership
  • Research Opportunities
