Innovative Posts

The Harlow programme offers five Innovative ST posts to the appropriate Trainees. They are Palliative Medicine, Women's Health, Dermatology/Rheumatology, ENT/Ophthalmology, Urology/Orthopaedics .

 


ENT/Ophthalmology GP STP post:

Workload & services provided:

  • 90% of workload for the General Practice STs will be OPD based.
  • The service is Consultant led service
  • The GPST  will be a supernumerary in the department
  • The GPST will be involved in the on call roster with the other SHOs
  • Each GPST post is done over a period of six months
  • Each ST will be shared in ENT / Ophthalmology department during the six months attachment.

MONDAY ENT Ward work/ emergencies ENT OPD with Mr Flower To learn the epidemiology of ENT outpatient activity, assessment & GP referrals
TUESDAY ENT OPD with Mr Amen St Margaret's Hosp. GP VTS Half Day Release As per rolling rota
WEDNESDAY STUDY ENT Ward / Emergency To gain confidence in dealing with common / important ENT acute problems / emergencies
THURSDAY EYE CLINIC Mr Vempali EYE CLINIC Mr Vempali To understand the criteria for referral & exposure to minor surgery
FRIDAY EYE CLINIC Mr Fawcett / Vempali PRIMARY EYE CARE To manage simple & common eye problems

 


Orthopaedics/ Rheumatology/ Urology GPST post:

Workload & services provided:

  • 95 % of workload for the General Practice STs will be OPD based
  • The service is Consultant led service
  • The GPST will be a supernumerary in the department
  • The GPST will be involved in the on call roster with the other STs
  • Each GPST post is done over a period of Six months
  • Each ST will be shared in Orthopaedics/ Urology & Rheumatology departments during the six months attachment.
