Upcoming Dates for the Diary

General Internal Medicine

A list of GIM training days can be found here:  https://heeoe.hee.nhs.uk/medicine/higher-specialty-programmes/general-internal-medicine

Other resources are available to help with your curriculum and portfolio needs.

The Royal College of Physicians hold regular events which may be of interest (https://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/events) and so does the Royal Society of Medicine (https://www.rsm.ac.uk/search-results/?PageTypes=Event). Both of these are very good for GIM teaching!

The British Medical Association has webinars and courses available for members, including on career development: http://https://www.bma.org.uk/learning-and-development.
(Note - HEEOE provides free access to the BMJ Best Practice app, which is very useful on call, to all trainees whether or not they are BMA members.  Details here: https://www.hee.nhs.uk/our-work/library-knowledge-services/hee-bmj-best-practice-comms-resources)

Geriatric Medicine

The British Geriatric Society also hold regular local and national meetings.  Full details are available here (https://www.bgs.org.uk/events) and include meetings on specialist areas, regional meetings, and anciliary skills (e.g. research, leadership, teaching, QI)

Some upcoming examples
- Leadership and Management Course (4-5/11/2023)
- 2023 Autumn Meeting (22-24/11/2023)
- Movement Disorders (15/03/2024)

For other key geriatric medicine topics, consider:
- The Bone Research Society
- Futurelearn has a 4 week course about perioperative medicine (https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/perioperative-medicine)
- The UCLH institute of Neurology does an annual movement disorders course in Queens' Square (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/ion/)

Palliative Care
The End-of-life Care for All (e-ELCA) programme is an elearning library which provides over 180 different interactive elearning modules.  It is run through E-Learning For Healthcare and links automatically to your eportfolio.  We wouldn't recommend setting out to do all 180 modules but it is definitely worth having a look at what they include.
