Our Training Practices are located primarily in Nottingham, Leicester and Loughborough, although some are further afield. Many of the Nottinghamshire & Leicestershire Scheme Educational Supervisors have or are currently undertaking a teaching qualification. You will find our Educational Supervisors to be passionate about Foundation Training, and so devoting a great deal of their time supporting their new colleague. DFT Practices provide for rich learning opportunities to help build much needed clinical experience in all the core disciplines. It is encouraged that FDs not only learn from treating patients, but also learn from the wider team, their peers, colleagues, and study day speakers.
The Education Centre at King’s Mill Hospital has high quality teaching rooms and a state-of-the-art haptic simulation suite as well as a room equipped with phantom heads. It is used for a variety of study days throughout the year ensuring the required educational needs are met with a good mix of topics presented in a manner to make the year enjoyable and lively. The study days are facilitated by professionals of the highest calibre, many of whom are specialists.
The Training Programme Director is Harmandeep Sanghera. He is an experienced GDP with his own practice in Derbyshire and lives in the city of Nottingham. Harmandeep has been a past Trainer in the region for many years with a passion for postgraduate education. Our scheme ethos is centred on blended learning through participation in practice and within the scheme. Our aim is to help you develop into proficient, caring, independent and reflective clinicians.
